Ben Reid was looking to do some cx practice - so...

Labor day Monday , CX practice in Cunningham park
8am GAP
9am Cunningham - tennis court parking lot at 196th Street and Union Turnpike

I am riding from Queens, if you need directions from GAP shoot me a note - general idea from what I have heard
GAP -> Vanderbilt -> right on Gates -> right on Myrtle -> left on Union Turnpike

PS Ben - I hope you see this, I sent you an email as well

After practice, we could ride over to the velodrome and say hello to the track folks doing the Kissena Labor Day Track Meet.

My cell is 646-235-2336 .
Friday, Sept 9.
3:30 at 199th st and union token.
let me know if you can make it.

We have full time jobs...
anyone interested in this friday?

ewick?
could do friday, could do.
Cunningham Friday sounds good. Ride out anyone?

Also, I see JP is lined up again for crossvegas tonight! Anybody know an online source/time for coverage? Cycling Dirt? Go JPow, rapha colors > ugly green cannondale.
what time on friday?

i'd prefer morning, unless eric is willing to run an actual practice, in which case, i'd do it whenever he could
i will let people know if I can.
If so, 3:30pm. 199th and Union.
i'm down to ride out on fri from gap
I can't leave work that early but I would like to get out there.

Anyone interested in going out Saturday morning?
I will not be able to do Cx practice tomorrow. See you on chilly Saturday morning.
let's shoot for 3:30 pm either way at 199 and Union
I have to bail out on Saturday morning -- I grabbed a spot at the last minute for Charm City
Owens, you down for 2-2:15 at GAP? My sense of direction blows that far out in Queens so some extra time is warranted unless you've got internal compass skillz.
I can do that I've ridden out a few times b
google map it

from GAP:
Take Vanderbilt to Gates, make a Right.
Gates to Myrtle, make a Right.
Myrtle to Union, make a Left.
Keep going.
That is the basic route. Use Maps to help you get off of Gates sooner and to Myrtle later and you avoid some sections that I don't ride on. Look for Cooper Ave on the map. (Gates - Bushwick - actually, choose a parallel road on the far side of Bushwick - Cooper, make left - take that to Myrtle and make right).

For coming back - 199th to 75th Ave, make left (away from Francis Lewis) and take that until Main Street and then take the basically parallel road down to Union again. Use Google maps again.

hey thanks for the directions. we can totally g-map it if we get lost, just figured some extra time might be warranted to account for it :)
Rich

Much quicker for me to go straight from hipsterland out Metropolitan and then union turnpike. I'll just meet you guys there at 3:30?

Anyone going to have a car to stash backpacks in?
Jeff, I was just thinking that. If no one else is planning on heading out from GAP I can just meet you at your place too.
Since Jeff O and I seem to be the only ones heading out from B'klyn, please text me at +1-347-746-9664 by 2:00 if you want to meet at GAP. I'm planning to meet Jeff at his place on the way at 2:30. Plan to meet others @ 199/Union at 3:30. Ciao.
see you there, duders
Owens has a flat so we're running a few late. Anyone wanna text me WDC's digits? Thx.
well:

we had an absolute BLAST riding the trail at Cunningham, and we were just about to prove the even the "black diamond" level trails are no match for the Kissena Cross Crew . . . when Jeff went ass over teakettle and planted his shoulder on a rock.

we got him in a car, and he's back at home, but we have yet to hear whether his shoulder injury will be terminal.

send The Horse good vibes, please!
Dear Jeff --Get well soon (in 9 hrs. or less) dude.
Booo! Crossing my fingers Rainers doesn't have unanticipated competition for the spectator prem.
JeffO! You OK??!?!?!

Crashed hard. Today was the first time I had attempted to ride at all since catskills. First time offroad in almost a year. Was doing fine on a trail we had already ridden ( lots of bunny hopping over logs)...POW. Went down with too much weight on the front end. Right scapula and ribs hurt, as does distal end of clavicle (which I've also broken before). Kinda hurts to breathe and right hand/arm is a bit numb. Hope it's not a serious nerve issue. Probably not dislocated or I wouldnt be typing this now. I may go to hospital later if it gets any worse.

I was just mentioning how I needed to get home when I decided to do the "difficult" trail one more time. Oops!

Thanks to WDC and Rich for assisting my busted wing into a car service. More fig newtons please.

Good luck @ championship tomorrow! I have a legit excuse for not losing, right?

Word.
After the bouts of windy weather we've had lately, Cunningham has more log jams than it used to on the 'moderate' difficulty trails. We'd been negotiating them pretty easily all afternoon and were having a ton of fun. We decided to blast one last lap when I heard a hard stack from behind followed by ominous silence. Not good. Reversed to find JeffO laid out but coherent with a badly banged up shoulder but after a bit he walked out of the woods under his own power. William had peace of mind to ride to a store and load up on ibuprofen. It took a while to find a car service that would come get Jeff and bike but eventually a rather nice animated chap came and drove him back to Williamsburg.

A text from this morning said he was still having rib pain and going to the hospital to get checked out. Hope you're back up quick, buddy.
Hopefully all checks out okay for JeffO at the hospital. You know...a word of advice about whether to go to the hospital or stay home and sleep it off, with regards to shoulder dislocations. We had a guy come into the ER the next day after injuring his shoulder and that gave his muscles enough time to really seize up and make getting his shoulder popped back in really, really tough. We loaded him up with all kinds of drugs, and no less than 3 different shoulder popping back in techniques were employed. Eventually, with two doctors hanging off one of his arms, and myself and a few others holding onto his other side as counterweights, we got it back in.

I know going to the ER is a pain, and involves a lot of waiting, and can be expensive if you don't have insurance, but sometimes it's just the smart move to make.
