I'm definitely interested in doing the pre-ride on the 31st. I should be able to drive and can bring folks but only have one bike rack. If someone can add to my Thule I can put others bike on top. I'd be interested in getting a decent ride in on that day in addition to checking out the hills and possibly the TT course.
Regarding the actual race. I was planning to go up on Friday morning and was hoping to bum a ride with someone. My wife is meeting me later that night. Anyone planning on going up on Friday morning? Cat 4s don't go off until 4pm so there's time.
It's official, as Jules told me, cat. 4 team mates will race together. Here is the answer I have received from the organizer:
"The Cat 4 field will be split by team before the race. As long as you and your team mates have the same team name in your registration data, you will be in the same field."
If you want to make sure you are racing with in the same heat as the team, you should make sure your team name reads "Kissena Cycling Club" on bikereg which is pretty easy to do.
As well, the note from the promoter was specific about points for the team competition "exact same team names"
(It would suck to drive all the way out there and get stuck in a different heat...)
Joshua Meny, currently registered as "Kissena" Daniel Wong currently registered as "Kissena" Jeff Condon currently registered as "Kissena Cycling"
@Jules Do you know how I change my registration to Kissena Cycling Club for this race? I'll shoot the promoter an email as well.
I'm heading up on Saturday the 30th with Adam to check out the TT course and ride some hills. I'm borrowing another roof rack so I'll have two bike on the roof and MAY be able to squeeze a bike in the back if the wheels come off. I'm planning on leaving from Park Slope around 7am. Let me know if anyone wants to join and we can figure out the details.
Thanks. I knew I was missing something. I made the change, but oddly enough my profile team name didn't match the team name that the Catskills had me down as. I've shot an email to the promoter to make sure.
I'm hoping that since my brother is flying cross country to come do this race with me (and will certainly race as if he were a team member) they won't split him into a different race. We emailed the promoter asking for that but haven't gotten a response.
@Jeff Condon; shoot the promoter an email to confirm. @Ryan I think if they get wind of your plan they'll split you up just to make it "fair" for the other teams.
As Jeff C stated, we're heading up to the Catskills on Saturday.
I am leaving Long Island with a friend at about 6am. We will head to the start of the TT. I know Jeff wanted to leave from Brooklyn about 7am, which should mean we should arrive about the same time. If anyone else is interested in joining please do. Unfortunately, as I'm out on Long Island I'm not so sure about being able to offer a ride up for anyone. However, if needs be (not sure it will help at all), my friend who is driving me may have room for a ride back for someone.
If anyone needs to contact me either now or on the day: 631 742 2315
So with Adam getting another ride my car opened up.
@Stephane I can definitely take you up and back. Leaving my place in the Slope at 7am. Let's coordinate before Saturday.
If anyone else is interested let me know and I think I can squeeze one more in.
@Jules what time are you getting up there? It'd be good if we could all meet at the TT on Saturday morning ride that and then head to some hills. I'm definitely interested in doing the Devil's Kitchen and would be up for others as well.
Just checked the TT- totally flat as a pancake. At a severe disadvantage without a TT bike me thinks. Oh well. For some reason I thought it had a little bit of climbing in it, not really.
Don't forget, for folks with TT rigs to be at an advantage, they have to be riding them with some regularity. Otherwise they only look and sound fast. However, if you can borrow some aero wheels, throw on some clip-ons that WONT put you in an extreme position (and by extreme, I mean extremely diff't than your current position), then you can gain some time.
So I'm picking Stephane up in the city around 7:20am and we should be at the TT course around 10:15am. We can all try to meet up around then if you want. My cell is 917-846-8262. I'm keen to ride the TT then get a sampling of the big hills on Courses 2 and 3 if possible.
Sounds perfect Jeff. Will meet you there ~1015. WIll text if there's an issue.

Hi guys, was wondering, what is the address for the TT course? Not sure where to head exactly. I'll be driving up with Adam tomorrow morning. My cell is 631 275 1454 (Christian Refakis.) Just joined Kissena a few months ago and haven't met many of you yet, but maybe you've seen me (big guy with red helmet) doing Cat 5 races at FBF. I'll post in the introduction thread soon.
Is there room for one more in the house you've rented? Would love to join in.

No problem Ryan, it's a shame I couldn't grab a spot earlier. I have not signed up yet, but I'm doing the preview tomorrow. I'll see how things go. Finding accommodation elsewhere shouldn't be too much trouble if I enter the race.
