Sorry to hear, glad you are doing ok.
I'm glad you're ok @JohnOlsson  and yes, Never stretch out your arm when you fall. The arm snaps like a twig.
Will we be covering bunny hopping over the hoods of cars? Would have come in handy yesterday on my way to Floyd when i got bumped by a Sunday driver that randomly decided to blindly pull out of a parking spot. Got knocked off my bike into oncoming traffic, but luckily both body and bike (for the most part) are doing just fine.

Wont be able to make it this evening on the count of my bike being worked on...but I like to think i did the right thing by rolling onto my side and not sticking my hand out to brace my fall. Collarbones have never been better!

On a side note, Garmin incident alert worked flawlessly, even let out a loud, repeating siren that i was really confused about at first bc i've never crashed, let alone get hit my a car.
Wow. Glad to hear you're ok. That's the first I've heard of anyone using the ID feature. Glad to hear it worked out.
Yo @JohnOlsson glad you're ok - sound like a scary run-in. If I may ask, you were heading to Floyd on a Sunday? Is that Sunday race series happening? Or you just happened to be heading in that direction?
Was just cruising to Floyd for some laps and a ride along the water & around Jamaica Bay. Maybe some tacos Midway, was a taco-less Sunday. Sunday race at Floyd sounds like fun, is that a thing??
graveyard series - it used to be a thing as of two years ago and was supposed to be a thing this year. i dream about a local sunday morning race at a reasonable time... alas
Looks like there is no Sunday series in 2017, maybe they'll bring it back later. In any case, I was at Floyd on Sunday, Tim's CX workout called for 40 minutes around threshold, so it was the perfect spot to do it safely outside.
Skills Week concludes tomorrow morning. 6:30 a.m. GAP. Show up and save a collarbone.
Heading to PP for some chill evening laps. Weather is beautiful, jump in at GAP if interested! ETA 8pm

Tomorrow. 6:35 am. CX Look sharp.

We'll meet at the Prospect Park location.

I'll bring cones and barriers, you bring your cyclocross bike, we'll jump and skid and practice skills, skills, skills.

Will be super fun. Come looking sharp.

meet at GAP or Hill Drive?
Anyone riding in PP tomorrow morning?  Or want to do an early River Road ride?
I am planning going to ride in the park 7-8 with some people, but on my fixed gear. you can jump on if you want.
Friday, September 22nd. 6:45am.

CX Drills and Spills. Meet at the PP location.

Simply, I bring barriers and cones, you bring your cyclocross bike. We practice, skid, and spill, until we get really amazing good at it.

Come looking sharp. Just in case, what good & sharp looks like:

looking sharp this morning! Jim also made a quick appearance

Awesome morning.  Thanks for bringing everything and setting up the course!
You guys makes this look easy.
I need to keep practicing.
Tomorrow. 6:30 am.

I will bring barriers and cones, you bring your cyclocross bike.

We'll practice skillz + drillz and discuss some of the challenges Charm City will throw at us.

Will try to get there early to setup. You know the location.
Prospect park riders - I'd like to establish another weekly training ride in prospect. We already have the lovely 'look sharp' ride on Friday. I think it'll be good for group training consistency and general morale to have another.

I'm thinking wednesday, as it's usually a lighter workout day and we'd incorporate whatever workout is on the training plan that week. Not to strict though - the main point is just to keep riding. A few questions for those interested...
  • I hate mornings. 7AM is early for me - who else likes that time? The earliest I'll go is 6:30.
  • Anybody else want to commit to this? It would be good to have another regular ride leader because I work late nights sometimes but I'm a big believer in regular group rides, that you can always count on.
  • In the winter, I'm up for outside riding as long as it's 30F or above.
Hey @Brian Miele I think a weekly ride on a Wednesday is an awesome idea. I'm in.

7:30 would be ideal for me. How about we meet then at Grand Army Plaza next Wednesday?

I'm still working out my training schedule for this year. But if it allows, which I expect it should, I'd be happy to commit as another regular ride leader.
Would love to join , but i'm half way to work by 7.30,
any interest here for an early group

Mark how early mate?

Could you make Brian's suggestion of 7am?

Or if you need an even earlier ride, and if there's enough interest, perhaps there's a point in having both a 6/6:30am group and a 7/7:30am group?
i think it's better to have one ride, even if it means starting earlier - at least it would be good to try for this but maybe it won't work.

If 7 or 7:30 is too early for Mark and perhaps others...

If we did a 6:30AM ride, is that early enough so that more people be able to show up?

If not, is 6AM the tipping point?

As an alternative to two rides, if there are multiple people that can start no later than 6AM, due to work / life, that want to be a part of a regular Wed ride, maybe we have a 6AM start for early risers, than a 6:30 contingent would meet and join the 6AM crowd once they pass by in their respective park orbit.

thoughts? My schedule has been erratic lately so I'm more keen on an earlier ride than I was originally thinking but my sweet spot is 6:30, as I always fail to get to the park earlier than that
Headed to the park for some sunset spins in zone 1-2 if anyone is interested
Late notice, but simply:

Look sharp starts tomorrow.

Meet at 6:30 am GAP
We'll ride 90ish minutes 25ish miles.
Come looking sharp.

Dan Reiners will make an appearance. And so will a good portion of the RHC racers.

What sharp looks like:

Damn that’s sharp
Tomorrow, we'll do it again.

6:30am meet at GAP. We'll ride from 60 to 90 minutes.

We'll chat about the impending Giro, Froome or not. Definitely expect openers for Saturday.

Come wearing kissena colors and looking sharp.

This is what sharp looks like:

Tomorrow look sharp. 6:30 GAP and some good times, and discussion of the Giro first week.

There was sharpness this AM and mild disdain for the Maglia Rosa squad riding just ahead of me, half-wheeling each other and not at all looking sharp.
Sorry I missed you Dan. I was out earlier - need to be back home by 6:30 these days to roust the teenager for school.
