Didn't even know there were two 4/5 fields.

Whitey are you dead set on the 7am start or do you want to join Thierry and Tim for 8a?  I'm game for either.  That is if the weather holds up...
Weather better hold up. I'm gonna make the call on Thursday when pre-reg is like 5 minutes from closing.
Hi all, probably will race rain or shine. Plan on doing both Cat 4/5 races. Jeff if somehow you can make it to the jersey side I can pick you up for the 7 am

pre-reg closes Friday at 12:01 am (that is just after midnight on Thursday night).
if i do wind up racing, i will most likely be doubling up on the 4/5's as well.
I'm contemplating the early race on Saturday as well. I have close to zero fitness but trainer time has left very lonely.

I also may do a family man hour ride over the bridge.

Either way I need to back in Brooklyn around 11:00am.

If I go to Branchbrook I can drive and have room for 3 more.
I am planning on going...and unleashing a winters worth of cabin fever fury!

I forgot to mention, big shout out to Jeff Condon. If I'm not mistaken, this was his first race with the big boys.

Mid way through the race, Eric asked Jeff if he felt ok to cover moves. Jeff said no. Eric gave him a big ol push and into the next breakaway he went.

Found this gem. This is me yelling at Jeff to be ready to counter attack at probably the hardest point in the race. Jeff showed some excellent positioning and race awareness. If a move went late, he had a shot to be in it. Not bad for his second race of the day.

Late to reply to this. Apparently some people think because they pay me that I need to actually do work everyday.

Thanks Mike and Ryan for the shout out, I'm glad I could help. I want to use this early season to gain more fitness and learn the ropes a bit more so I can hopefully make a difference for the team. From there we'll see what happens.

I love the caption this photo had on the blog post.

"Kissena guys are getting upset."

I'm heading out for the 123 this weekend. I can drive 1, preferably someone on my way

(Flatbush Manhattan bridge canal street)

I dont mind getting there for the 8am races.

I'll be doubling up in the 4/5s if the weather holds.
For anyone who can wrangle it, the double 4/5 and then 4/5 again back-to-back is fantastic training for riding and positioning in the pack.  You'll be guaranteed to go too hard on the first race so you won't have many matches to burn the second time around.  Without good legs necessity will teach you how to hid.

So if you have the means...

Cool, I'm in for the double then.  So far looks like it'll be dry, but windy.

Yang, I'm looking to do the double, but probably the masters race at 8 instead of the second 4/5 race. I am racing age 35 and I like pain. Can I get a spot in your car?
Yup, so it'll be you and Tim H.  PM or email me with your pickup points.
Ya'll have 10 minutes before reg closes for Saturday.
I'll pay the late fee
Of course you would, sprint-man.

I still have space if anyone wants a ride out there.

Dave,

How about you be our leader this weekend.
Flattering, but I'm definitely not experienced enough yet, especially at Branch Brook.  It was so much easier with Konrad in the 4 field!  "Okay guys, the plan is to watch Konrad ride away from the pack and get on the podium."
How about Nelson?
I'm for total anarchy...
I'm feeling a little under the weather so I'm going to pass on tomorrow.
I thought Konrad was with the 3's. And chaos is always good : )
I nominate @whitey to be our cat 4/5 captain for the first race.
I can be road captain for the first race. I'll be installed in the first ten riders for as much of the race as I can, so try to hang around there and we'll commiserate on the proceedings.
Careful all you tubular riders...they have been known to roll off the rim when the pavement gets hot....and the pavement is gonna get WHITE HOT when I launch my sprint tomorrow.  Don't pull a Beloki...just don't....this has been a public service announcement.

Yacks, a few tips on the sprint at Branch Brook (not sure if you've done it before - this also, of course, goes out to anybody looking to sprinting here). It happens right after that little rise. It's the only rise on the course, so you'll know which one it is. There's a no bbq'ing sign and a light post and then some black beam. The black beam has 200 sprayed on it in yellow and is roughly 200 to go, I guess. I don't think it's a reliable thing to look for as you'll be watching those around you, but note that this is also near the point where the slope changes from positive to negative, so take that into account when sprinting or shifting. Just know that shortly after the kicker it's time to fly.
The finish line has been pushed ahead a little the past few weeks due to the snow.
Your tubulars are safe...I got nothin...1st race felt awful...2nd race much better.  Still, no pop in the sprint yet.  Good to get the rust off though.  Shut down the first sprint when I realized I was not in contention...908 watt max....in the 2nd I decided to at least get on top of a gear and pushed 965 watts...Should be cracking a cool G soon.  Might not be enough to win a sprint but it's enough to put someone else in position to win.  Yacks
