Marc, definitely trying to get to a few of the these, looks like the 4/5 race is about an hour before the 1/2/3. So not sure how that will work out, but I'm definitely looking for the best way to get there from Manhattan
Is anybody driving to this thing Saturday? Otherwise let's try to get a group to take NJ transit in the early AM. Takers?
I've got to do some juggling to make the race, but I'm trying to do so.  Need to get one in before Grant's.  I'll almost certainly take the train.
Posted on the event page of BikeReg.

Tuesday March 3rd weather related note:  The most recent forecast just came out and it's calling for up to 11" of snow in Newark Thursday, with temperatures below freezing all day Friday.  If this does indeed happen, it won't be safe to race and we'll have to cancel.  We'll make the final determination early Friday morning.  Until then, we've closed registration for all categories but opened a waitlist.  You can register on the waitlist but you won't be charged if the race is cancelled -- you'll only be charged if the storm passes and we're able to hold the race safely.

If you've already registered and we have to cancel the race, we'll offer you two options:

 1) Move your existing registration to one of the other Spring Series races On 3/14, 3/21, 3/28 or 4/4. There will not be any additional charges from Bikereg.

2) We can refund your entry. Note - Bikereg will not be refunding their registration fee.

On the off chance that the race is on, does anybody want to split a zipcar in order to hit the two 4/5 races? Same query applies to the following week's race.
Anybody want to wager what the over/under is on the race actually happening Saturday? I'm procrastinating putting a cassette on my race wheels with the snow right now. Thoughts?
Not happening

I just cancelled with the promoter and had my Reg transferred to the March 21st race instead. This weather is bananas.
Pending rain, I think I'm doing this instead of Grant's. Sorry Marc. Anyone else?

I might have a go
You may think you are crossing Bertucco, but you are in fact inviting the wrath of JP. He is always flying this time of year and is always wanting for teammates. I for one will be bringing some Jiffy Pop and a camp stove in case Sommerville shows up in numbers to Grants this year. Wouldn't that be something? ;)

I understand the allure of Branchbrook this weekend, but it will never compare to Grant's Tomb in New York Fucking City.

Did anyone race this? If so, reports please!

Never mind.

Looks like ex-KCC Perlberg won the 1/2/3 (Andy Dasilva in 5th), Ragot 2nd in the Master's race. Small fields.

Ragot 2nd out of four rider field, my kind of race.
@JohnMalcolmson  wanna give em a run for his money this week? Double up on Masters races?
Ragot 2nd out of four
quick math puts him at 50th in a field of 100...just sayin

actually, quick math would put him 24-25th in a field of 100.
nope, 26th-50th
This discussion has made my Monday ever so enjoyable.
It's become a Common Core question...

Jeff, that's very tempting, but feeling a little close to the little fella's due date.
I better get to a race soon...the alien in my calf wants out

Wouldn't hold your breath for this week, yacks. It's supposed to snow Friday late into the night and stay cold until morning. Up to 5" expected in Newark.
*Sad Trombone*
Accuweather has 1-3 with accumulation mainly on non-paved surfaces for Newark on Friday.  I'm going to go with this, at least to get me through work the next two days
I'm registered for the 1/2/3 along with Jake and Craig.  I assume I'll be taking the Path train from Penn Station.  Not sure if I'm taking the train back or riding home.
The weather reports I'm reading will keep us all inside tomorrow morning
From Jim, regarding Branchbrook tomorrow-

Sean - as of 5 minutes ago, there hasn't been any snow sticking to the ground in the park. I'm going to hear from the park people in a few minutes about whether they'll let us race, but they seemed inclined to let us go ahead.

If you can't make it because your ride falls through, I'll move you to another weekend - that's a valid reason to miss a race.
Bummer. From Facebook:

We just heard from the Parks Department and they're not going to let us use the park tomorrow to race. They're concerned about black ice in the morning. So the race is officially cancelled.

We're disappointed and we're sure most of you are as well. What we're going to do is automatically transfer everyone's registrations to the March 28th race. If you can't make that race and would prefer to race April 4th or if you need a refund for any reason, please feel free to contact us here or through bikereg.
