Ryan, Joaquin, and I got in the break. We took 8,10,12th. It was some excellent team riding the the first 2 laps to get ourselves well represented up front. Ryan pulled off a super smart move to get into a chase group and then jumped across to the break with Joaquin and I.
These are good results, but I think I kinda fucked up on the communication side and I could have done better. Ryan and Joaquin pretty much dedicated themselves to helping me out and I didn't really deliver. I was boxed in in the sprint and never was able to do much more than coast in.
Basically, I over thought the whole thing and really we should have just attacked the fuck out of the field until we got one of us in a 2 or 3 man group up the road, or I should have told them to give me (or Joaquin, for that matter) a proper lead-out.
Also good to see that Konrad brought Andy and Craig up for good results in the field sprint.

Well that depends. You dont get credit for cat 4 racers in the field, so it could end up being only tiny amounts of points unless lots of 3s sign up.

Yeah i'm sorry craig im gonna do prospect. I love the cherry blossom challange it is one of my fave races but i need the points with my GF after racing all of last weekend. I'll be your super domestique/leadout guy/ ride for Rahway.

Andy, you can't talk me into doing a race and then bail!
I'm planning on giving Cherry Blossom a try. Any other 123s going over? I can drive with one other if necessary, but I'll need to know a little in advance so I can clean out the trunk of the car. Also you might have to ride home after I get shelled in the first five minutes and decide to head home...
Anybody have a spot in there car?

I'm doing the Cherry Blossom 3/4 Race that starts at 11am I think. I'm prob
taking NJ transit there from 34th street around 9am. I plan to either take
the train back to the city or ride over GWB post race. If anyone has last
minute space in a car, awesome, if not I'll see you there regardless.

7th in Cherry blossom 35+. Made the chase group which was large. One guy solos the whole race. We are dysfunctional and almost get caught with two to go. We pick it up and as the sprint unfolds, bill Ellisron skips a chain on the left, I veer to the right. Mike degeorge, a wacthung, crashes on the curb in front of me. I had to check up.
I found myself neck and neck with Willie Payton. He was just a bit ahead of me as we approach the line. But then as I eased off somebody else just picked me off.

Craig and I were in the 3/4 race today. He got in the break and I worked with 2 montclair bakery guys to disrupt any chase attempts since they had some people up the road. Craig finished somewhere in the top 10 and I rolled in who knows where.
Really fun day minus the insane wind.

I did the 4/5 race today. I was able to stay at the front of the pack sitting anywhere from 1st to 5th wheel the whole race and I was able to shutdown a few breakaway attempts made by Jim Vreeland, this other racer in a red kit, and a few others. I pretty much stuck with the red rider threw out the race and worked with him and a few other racers. At the last lap after that 90 degree turn the rest of the pack started to swarm around me and the other guys and I thought about giving up cause i thought i would have no shot at the sprint
But a light of hope glimmered to my left! The red rider then made a move on the left that no one picked up on so I hopped on his wheel around the 600 yard mark (i think). He and I started going at it till the 300 mark he peeled off but I kept it going. I was almost sure that I was going to get the win when a few other racers came creeping behind me around the 100 mark and took 1st - 4th. Either way I'm really happy about today's result and my performace during the race. so far best road race yet

Even if it's a training race, you can brush up on fitness and TACTICS before the series
taking up this space to remind you of the tactics talk you'll find on this thread

Attention Northern/Manhattan folks! Rigby, Smith, Partland, McLoughlin, Malcolmson, others?
So it's been a few years since I've done these races, mostly because the effort of getting to even nearby New Jersey vs racing in Central or Prospect Park in the early season never made sense.
But, and it's still "early" by Anthony Van Dunk standards to call it, in case we don't have NYC Spring Series racing, I think it's worth thinking about most convenient ways to get to Jersey as a group. In the past, JP and I have trained it and ridden back (not my fav honestly). But if there were a group of us, might be palatable.
FWIW, I think all the Brooklyn kids who are now on Sommerville Sports are really keying on the Branchbrook races.
Anyway, with just a few weeks to go before Spring racing kicks in, I wanted to try and take the temp of my Manhattan peeps.
At this point it looks like I'll be hitting up Grant's Tomb on the 14th for my first race and doing mostly training for March and April. (Which is fine, my first real goal isn't until June.)

@MarcGood idea. Looks like I won't be racing these. From my experience these races are much safer than Van Dunk's Spring Series.
