Post race report.
OUCH OUCH OUCH. Two days of hard racing I can feel it in my legs. I spent much of the race patroling the front, and put in a couple of big digs trying to either bridge or drag the stacked breakaway back, but when you've got Scotto and Montecci both in the break, and blocking hard, it was very hard to get a chase organized. Once we got neutralized by the passing 123 field it was over except for the sprint fireworks for places 5-8.
I discussed with Scotto guys that they should do their best to string it out for the last lap, and keep it safe in the sprint. We were not going to catch the break so their guy was safe. They sounded like they were going to do that, and proceeded to do none of it. Both Jim and I were well positioned in the sprint near the temple, but ended up getting boxed in or pushed to the front by the parking lot. Once the sprint started in earnest and there were 20 guys going for four spots, I decided to sit up and stay upright. Ouch it hurt to race that hard two days in a row.
