My roommate in Houston will be hitting up the last 1/2/3 race on Aug 18.  Guy is super strong, worked his way to Cat 2 over the past 3 years, likely jumping on an elite TX team for next season.  Any one for sure racing in that race?  Would like to connect him, get him pointers on what to know, typical race tactics, etc. Thanks!

Hey all. L&C cup again this Saturday!

I am going to miss this one, which is unfortunate, because even after being caught behind last week’s finish line crash I am tied for third place in the masters competition. Maybe if my competitors don’t get many points and I do well in the final race we can party down on $100 worth of coffee and muffins after the race. 

Good racing today by all Kissenistas. That was awesome fun!

• Super small field, 30ish riders aprox
• Windy too
• Less places to hide
• Which usually means moar bettah racing
• I expected this, and sure looked like others did too -- i.e. Paul McCarthy, Jimmy (Yellow Jersey), Cullen, a whole crankworks day of reg team. They came ready.
• Awesome. Let's race bikes!
• New Kissenista Rob looked like the fire! Covering the most hardcore moves
• So did Rick, breaking legs all over
• Not to mention el gran John Powell
• While nothing stuck, there were some real fun hardcore attacks, promising moves, and groups, with us starting them or covering like fire
• No results to show for it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
• Gotta work on that part
  
• (basic learning/reminder: expect bumps. keep pedaling)
• Fast race at 40.7 km/h (25.3 mph) We caught the 1/2/3 field
• they neutralized us, tho, as there was a 1/2/3 break up the road, and things would have otherwise gotten messy (still 25.3 mph with the neutral lap)
• Got an email HR threshold notification from TP -- a first from Prospect Park!

Shockingly I am still tied for third place in masters competition as apparently few of the regulars showed up for Saturday’s race. Next (and last) L&C on the 18th I’m targeting a strong finish. Any help will be appreciated 

I'll be there this Saturday for the Master's race and at the last L&C Cup race. I'll lend whatever help I can.

I'll prob be there for the L&C on the 18. I will miss this weekend.

Charlie needs someone to score KOM this coming Saturday Aug. 18th. This is paid. Ideally, you have some experience scoring, but not a 100% requirement.

Last L&C Cup of the year is this Saturday!

My Houston roommate Matt Mata (Nick Lopez Racing) and friend of his from Austin, Mike Pincus (CCR Racing) will be in the 1/2/3.  They promise to make it interesting

Ah... Nick Lopez Racing. One those guys pulled a serious dick move in the P123 at the Texas Road Race Championships at Fort Hood one year. As the peloton went through the final feed zone, a Nick Lopez Racing guy sprinted along the edge of the road, slapping bottles out of the hands of opposing teams' soigneurs.

It was over 100º. Ended up being a bad day for a good portion of the racers.

Not that they're all responsible for that guy, but it put a bad taste in our mouths for that team.

@JohnPowell That may have been sometime ago? There were split categories last year and Matt only joined Lopez last year.  Yeah, teams ebb and flow and I heard that they hadn't had the best rep in the past.  Matt's good people though.

@Scott Kuhlke Yeah, didn't mean to imply that your friend races like that. It's just my main memory of that team.

Flight to Toronto cancelled...so see anyone who is planning to be at the back of the 4s race tomorrow...

This Saturday's Kissena Fall Classic in Prospect Park is our official club road champs. The club awards custom champion jerseys to the first Kissena riders in the Cat 4 and 1/2/3 fields. Last year Ricky and J.P. won in their respective fields. Do you have what it takes to dethrone them? Will this be your lucky day? 

Whether going for the win or just wanting to have a good time and get coffee afterwards, come race the Kissena Fall Classic. As usual, Charlie will need reg volunteers (you race for free), contact him if you can help. 

Each jersey must have minimum two contestants in order to produce a winner.

Jerseys are:
- Women's Cat 4 Club Champ
- Men's Cat 4 Club Champ
- Men's P/1/2/3 club champ

Despite getting neutralized in the middle of the race to make room for the P123 field, that was a fun race. The first few laps were nice and fast, the middle was slow as molasses, but the pace picked up in the final few. There was an early attempt at a break that I got into with two other guys, but it should have been obvious that it had no hope. When the first guy rotated off, the 2nd dude sat there. I went up to keep our pace, but it was clear that no cooperation was coming.

We had a strong showing today. Kissena was represented well near the front throughout the race. It was great seeing another Kissena roll up to the front whenever I rotated back a bit to rest.

On our 2nd to last lap (I think), we were neutralized to make room for the P123 field lapping us. All hell broke loose in our field and while still neutralized, some guy crashed himself and took down 3-5 other guys. Shortly after, our race was restarted and it was a bare-knuckle brawl for positioning as we entered the final lap.

At that point, the race was fast and strung out, as it should have been all along. I worked my way to a position near the front and when we got half way up the final climb, I didn't see any Kissena riders ahead of me. For a moment, I thought "I might actually have a shot at the Club Championship Jersey."

For a moment…

I look over and see @ErikPfiffner moving up the left side of the field and dropping all of us like sacks of potatoes. Then @JohnOlsson and @RichardCornetta pass me on the right as we crest the top.

So, nevermind…

Anyway, despite the chaos and silliness of the middle portion, it was a fun race.

JP was solo in the 123. We also had someone in the 5 race but I forgot his name. I have a terrible memory for names.
