@twoyacks I'll miss ya. It is nice racing in Central Park for a change. Having said that, CRCA hosts two or three open races a year there (Mengoni on June 30) and maybe the spring series next year too.

Kissena will never be the same.

Super sad about the circumstances that brought me back to this forum this week, but glad I came back in time to say farewell to Count Yackula.  Just note that the only time I've ever dropped out of a race because I physically couldn't finish was after a team leadout to the hill during your 2013 KOM run.

And a super fond, but belated farewell to Brendon, another guy I worked like dog for (who definitely didn't need any of my meager help) to be a yellow jersey champion.  The best move I've ever made in a bike race was playing rabbit to set up Rigby's winning sprint when we were still cat 5.

I am headed to Chicago for a new job (same company). I have enjoyed the last 4 years in the northeast, specifically the last 3 years in NYC. As many of you know, I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and went to college and worked downtown before heading east. A number of personal, family, and professional events made this a logical time to head home.

I have always been fond of the Windy City, which boasts the best amateur cyclocross series in the US. You all are welcome to visit this fall and see what the rage is all about. It’s worth noting that 2020 US Cyclocross Nationals will take place in the suburb of Wheaton this year.

I will miss riding with Kissena. Having raced a ton of road and cyclocross in college, I was not willing to give up cycling simply because I had to work 60+ hour weeks. Kissena was a great fit for me. The club has strong, knowledgeable riders that lead safe rides. Three full cross seasons without a car were made possible by the generosity of various clubmates. I discovered great roads for cycling close to NYC thanks to Kissena. I regret not getting more involved in volunteering at the road events hosted by Kissena.

I depart with many fantastic memories with the club. Some to highlight include the training camp in the Catskills in May 2018, the trip to Europe last summer, and volunteering at Supercross. 

I will forever remember June 17th as the day we lost Phil Ginsberg. I wish I had chatted with him a bit more during the coffee stop that day.

I hope I have earned the reputation of being a decent climber, reliable diesel, and a serviceable cyclocross racer. More importantly, I hope I have earned the right to occasionally throw on the old Kissena colors and rave about this wonderful NYC club and its great history as I cruise around Chicago (or wherever else my journey may take me). I am proud to have snagged a few victories and podiums in the cyclocross and TT disciplines while riding for KCC.

I would be honored to have a farewell ride on Saturday, January 25th. Primarily paved surface launching from the west side of the GWB at 9AM. Low Road -> Bradley Tweed -> Piermont -> GWB. If the weather does not cooperate, we can try for Sunday or just catch up some place warm in the city.

Big change.  

As a native New Yorker, I see the pull of one's hometown.  I understand the desire.

It has been great riding/racing/driving to races with you.  Was looking forward to challenging you at the next CX club championship.    And, of course, taking you on some quality wormhole action.

Sad to write that unless we get a long spell of 60-degree weather between now and next weekend, I don't think I can make the farewell ride.  I'm slated to take kids skiing.

Wear the colors with pride.

Best of luck Anthony! You and @eloy played a pivotal role in convincing me that CX is like road racing but make it fun. You guys were right and i'll be forever grateful. I'll be sure to come through for that farewell ride!

@AnthonyOtt It’s been great riding with you. We were part of the same new member ride over two years ago and it feels like yesterday. Maybe one day I’ll do the Chicago Marathon and convince you to join me (at a slower pace of course). Good luck with the move back home.

Definitely will try to make the ride on the 25th even with out my winter Kissena kit. Chicago is really up in the air depending on what happens in early October.
