AGGGGHHHHHH I AM SO SICK OF THESE STORIES

Its just like the Matthew Lefevre hit and run where the driver fault is on display for all to see in the very description of the incident! How many times have you watched a car turn left in front of you when you have the right away as if you don't even exist? That's what happened here! And a girl is dead because some dumbshit doesn't count a cyclist as something you have to yield to.

Gee, I'm so sorry to hear "the driver" was "visibly shaken." I suppose I'd feel the same way if I looked at someone who was VISIBLY DEAD and knew it was my fault.

As for our mayor and his personal goon squad (aka NYPD) - well, I'll hold my tongue.

Here's the answer—join the NBRA!

Do you think the gun is carbon fiber? Plus it doesn't match his bike.
American gun with an Italian bike?

not pro
Gun barrel should always match bar tape?
Gun barrel should always match bar tape?
Funny i always thought pistol grip for roadie, full stock straight grip for MTB,
Guys, I pulled this OFF our Facebook Page today, posted by someone named Ed Esposito.

 Anyone have any details?

"Props out to the WOMAN cyclist who chased down one of the rude punks from the Kissena Cycling Club. See, when you like to fly near cyclists within inches without the customary "on your left" don't tell a WOMAN "f.u." Didn't your mama teach you any manners? Of if you do, make sure the woman can't catch you on a hill and throw her air pump in your spokes..... Oh, if you wagered she didn't have some martial arts training, YOU LOST!

Day-um... A flying arm bar from at 6:30am sure fixed your attitude, didn't it...."

sounds either intriguing, or like flame bait. Hard to tell the difference.
I was out this morning with the group doing TT efforts. We went past probably every rider in the park, but nobody chased us down and shoved a pump in anybody's spokes. I don't know what he's talking about.
What was the timestamp on the post?

ed esposito - aka "The Spin Guru" - seems like a swell guy.  his twitter feed indicates deep knowledge of the new england patriots, queensryche, and comedic gems like this:

@TheSpinGuru (June 8:) "Damn funny: hipster cracking head open because they did not see a tire in the bike lane because they were looking at their iPhone #bikenyc"

yeah, ed - that's HILARIOUS!

2 more clicks down the google search reveals, yes, we have a sad case of flame bait - this was in response to multiple posts of his on a gothamist article on bike lanes on the bridges a few months back:

"Hey everybody, it's Ed Esposito, otherwise known as the Spin Guru! He has many alias, but all of them use the word "fucktard" and love capital letters. I've contacted one of the spin studios he works at and they're looking into his harassing tweets as TheSpinGuru.  Do everyone a favor and block this troll."

i think this is him: http://www.mapmyride.com/profile/edesposito/

. . . we can send a message via MapMyRide to ask him to clarify.
He friend requested me on facebook!
Yeah, and I got a crazy email from somebody at "
phoenixrecordsfullfillment@yahoo.com"

*"I suggest you contact your members the use Prospect Park and like to
blaze right next to other cyclists without an "on your left" and explain to
them how to be a little bit more courteous.*

*There are a lot of pot holes in the park and if one has to quickly dart
around needs to know when your members are passing. They do not own the
park and need to be a bit more courteous.*

*Please heed the warning so your members do not cause bike accidents.*

*Koi"*

Check out this site. It actually makes our dot info site look good!

Crazy, angry loser trolling on the internet with made-up stories b/c he has no other outlets for his perceived injustices.....shocking.
Wow, on June 20th this guy was totally awesome (not).  FB posts about having a cell phone jammer, and a driver attacking a cyclist and only letting go after dragging them for 1/2 block. I hope this is more of the same delusional made up crap.

Bike safety tip # 2,019: If you are coming down the street the WRONG WAY and are cutting a major avenue like Bedford, you might want to yield to cars. Oh, and is not the best move of the day to not only stick a middle finger in a driver's face, but inside their window inches from their face. LMAO. While coming home from class, I saw a driver 2 cars in front grab the hipster's arm and rip down my block letting go 1/2 block later. Did you ever see how far a hipster can slide on the concrete. I think I heard the driver say, "Welcome to the Terrordome, punk"
Why do people think that screaming "on your left" as you come around them is safer than choosing a safe line, not startling them, and passing quickly?

I'm going to quote my favorite Bertuccoism: "Don't engage crazy." It's a good life policy.
While this spinning cat-lover is a special kind of crazy, i've got another one for you.

On Saturday, I was riding in Fort Lee back to the GWB.  When I get to the bridge, there's a Port Authority Pickup truck parked on the median, as has been happening alot lately.  And a cop writing a ticket to a cyclist.

I roll up to the cop.  I ask if he's going to ticket the truck.  He tells me, "you have to speak to the Port Authority about that.  You're not supposed to be making turns here anyways."

I didn't point out that he has the authority to ticket.  Didn't seem like it would go anywhere.
"Not supposed to be making turns here?" What does that mean? Is there a legal way for us to get onto the bridge coming south along Hudson Terrace?

I suppose one can always dismount and jaywalk. This is what I did last week when a light turned red and a cop was stopped at the light coming the other way through the intersection. After a moment's hesitation. I stopped short. Jumped off my bike and walked through the intersection against the red. As I reached the other side and remounted, the cop leaned out his window, gave me two big thumbs up and said something like "that's the right was to do it". He was trying to be friendly I think, but I was disgusted.

Apparently, pedestrians (and Port Authority trucks) can do whatever they want while cyclists have to obey the letter of the law.

Looking at the photo of the guy on the totally matching blue bike. I do remember seeing him, but buzzing him, hardly.
I hope the bike pump thing is made up. One of the tough things about being in a club this size and has been around this long. It could be someone who doesn't check the forum or an old member from 10 years ago.
Obviously a guy with a rich imagination, nothing to see here. No, there's no reason to be so polite - he's delusional and will one day snap and harm someone. Keep away. Far away...

Nice article in the Times about the defensive use of helmet cams by commuters.

An excerpt:

A couple of months ago, Mr. Souza said, a motorist became upset after the cyclist crossed in front of his vehicle to make a turn. The driver got out of his car to confront Mr. Souza, who pointed to the camera on his head.

“I said, ‘Don’t be stupid,’ ” Mr. Souza said. “He quickly ran back to his car. I’m certain I avoided a couple blows.”

I've wondered about that.  I've seen non-fixters or extreme trials people, very dorky normal commuter types like me, with helmet cams a few times recently and thought that might be a reason, but also kinda paranoid.  That said, once again yesterday and today, I kicked cars' sides with my foot when they decided to swerve into me without checking their mirrors.  Or, more likely, seeing me and thinking "Oh, it's a bike, he must be going slower than me, even though I'm stuck in traffic.  I'll just move on over!"

Oh, the new batman movie fucking rocks!
