Close Encounters of the #%&*@! Kind (Legal too)

Sheesh, I live two blocks from that corner...  I'm glad you're ok John.

As far as Astoria is concerned, or Queens for that matter, in terms of bike friendliness, I actually think its up there on the list.  I bike through Queens to go to the LIE on the weekends and I've never had any issues (knock on wood) with drivers.  Sure we can use more bike lanes, and there are drivers that double park on the existing ones etc, but maybe because its never too crowded that I've never found that an issue.
No need to worry... TJ always comes out on top

The story made Bike Snob...

0:18 is the most apt youtube clip ever.

Jeff, that is so sad.  I'm lucky that I'm just putting neosporin on a few scratches.

Just got popped for making a right on red coming home from the park. With Leroy as my legal defense it should be smooth sailing.
'This the season for tickets. Everyone look over your shoulders.
That seems like an incredibly minor infraction. Worthy of submitting to consideration by a judge.
Broke a bit from knee rehab protocol today when I saw Ryan flying by so I hopped on his wheel.  That guy is riding so strong these days!

All was well until just after his interval was done some dude on a cruiser came up and started bitching about how Ryan had just "spat in his face"

Ignoring Ryan's apology and assurances it wasn't on purpose he called him (us) a "Pig" and rode off.  All things considered it could have gone worse, although it was a real shame to have such a dope harsh on our fine vibe.
on the other side of the kissena karma wheel:

a man thanked me for stopping at a red light (dean and hoyt), in the bike lane and not blocking the cross walk, while waiting for the light to turn.  i began thanking each and every one of our sponsors by name, but he seemed confused.

things got a little awkwardly positive.  he thanked me, but he also emphatically thanked god for my stopping at the red light  i'm still not sure how he learned my nickname.
A local bike shop owner took the time to reach out to us today because he and another rider were buzzed at high speed today by a KCC at Vanderbilt & Flushing.  Someone wearing a backpack and new kit with red chain stays blew by them and then make an erratic turn onto Flushing.

We don't have a formal code of conduct on KCC but we do try and abide by the old coaches maxim,

"Don't do anything that would embarras you, your family or your team."

Lapses in judgement happen but when you put on your team kit please remember that there are 100+ other riders you are representing right now, 49 years of riders before you and of course the sponsors on your jersey.
We've all seen this kind of crazy shit happen.

Uh, this evening Ragot and I saw a Grumpy Old Wheelman guy fleeing police (a tad slowly and clumsily) on his bicycle. It was sort of hard to believe it was actually happening, but it was.

#idiotsrule
Seems incredible to me that there is no recourse other than to post these screeds on a tumblr.

"Mind bottling" was pretty good though. Almost makes you wonder if it was a parody...

This is vintage.  You have to read it, the update, and the comments below.  So great.

Lynch the bitch!!

How dumb to people have to be to keep bragging about crimes on social media?  It truly "bottles the mind"

Sounds like a case of "too dumb to pour piss out of a boot even if the instructions were written on the heel."

Yay, I get to post in this thread - first time ever!

Fat lady stepped off the curb in front of me in the financial district this morning. I corrected to go behind her, seemed fairly routine, but she froze and corrected herself back into my line. We repeated those dance steps a couple of times before we collided.

Thought I was fine, but a couple hours later my right shoulder is starting to hurt at what I'd call low-moderate pain intensity. Icing.
She was fat? Bc of course she was.
if you have to collide with someone, you ideally want to target the rotund.  if they're big enough the impact will be no different to jumping onto a mattress.
You'd think stepping back onto the curb would be the go-to tactic.
I'm not buying it.  Using Ryan as a reference I'm fat.  She was probably a Supermodel.
And by "collided" he means, had a lot of sex in the street right there boom boom.
Fat ladies are soft. HTFU.

You heard that, Ryan? Heal The F*** Up!
