Is anyone up for doing this?

https://www.bikereg.com/Net/16196

There is a 9 lap 4/5 field which im eyeing up.
I'm thinking of doing the Master's in this one.   Love the 12-lap test....
I'll be in for the Masters.
I'll be doing this one. Not sure if I'll do 4/5 or Masters though.
I'm in.  Masters.
Not old enough. Bmrz. Would really like to do a 35+ with you guys at some point. Guess I'll be 123ing it.

This is one of Horace's races. Expect big money primes.

@Jeff Condon - join us in the Masters.   More laps = more fun.
I'm with you, my only hesitation was that in doing some math recently it looks like I currently have 19 upgrade points (if I get the full credit for each race). Six of these points expire on July 15, 2012. I actually don't think I'm ready to upgrade yet, but was thinking maybe if I could bank a point or two this weekend then I could reserve my 20 points in 12 months to upgrade toward the end of the season if so desired. That being said after hearing about the Pawling Cat 3 race, perhaps I should just stay put for the moment and assume I'll earn the points if and when I'm ready to move up.
I'm in for the 1/2/3.  Looks like I'll be joining Vlad and Daniel.  And I'm hoping Rene and Mike and ? and ? as well.

Marc is out.
I'm broke so I won't be doing this one.
I'm 85% in. :) I hope to get on my bike once before then.
ditto what michael said
Following will be a shitty pre-race report.

Some rather frightening news means I'll not be racing/training for a bit.

At the end of the new members ride yesterday I was having a nice chat with Mike M when I was overcome by hunger and got a bit out of breath - odd b/c I was at a slower than social pace. I figured I was just hungry and tired from the 2-race weekend.

Got home and felt dizzy and realized my heart was racing. My resting HR is usually 45-50 bpm these days - but i estimated that my heart was ticking at close to 180 after 15 minutes of rest. My wife - over the phone from NC - convinced my stupid stubborn ass to call an ambulance. It saved my life.

Suffered what is called a ventricular tachycardia (not a heart attack or stroke - its an arrhythmia, and likely genetic). My heart rate went to 220 bpm, none of the drugs that were supposed to get it under
control worked, i hung in there, lucid like that for an hour or more, but finally passed out- and they had to shock my heart to get it to slow down.

(silver lining - my training meant that 220, while ultimately deadly if it went too long, was still something I could tolerate longer than many b/c my heart is
used to working hard - just not that hard for more than an hour, while
resting!!!!)

So yeah - I'm admitted here at NY Methodist, waiting for tests with my bro, feeling good but scared as f*ck about what would have happened had I not listened to my wife. Always listen to your wife!

Whoa! I hope you uploaded that to Strava 'cause you might get a KOM or something.

Seriously though, get better. I believe you got a "cardiac version". They did it to my father for his atrial fibrillation. I would suggest you do a bunch of reading, ask a lot of questions and get as many second opinions as you can afford.

I'll tell my wife that you have endorsed her.

Whoa is right. David - let me know if there is anything you need - especially when you are released - e.g. if you want someone to bring some food over, let me know and I'd be happy to. I stop short of doing windows.
Glad to hear your are alive Dave.  Scary shit.
Holy SHIT dude.  Really glad/sorry to read this.  Great to hear you are getting taken care of.
Do you get credit for a new, higher threshold as a result?  :)
Damn! Get better David.
That sounds harrowing. Glad you're in a condition to surf the boards, though. I like Stokes's advice.

Shit, scary indeed. Shout if you need anything.

Get better David. That sounds pretty terrible. I've heard of other folks have tachycardiac episodes that are really scary. I am glad to hear that your efforts to get fit have proved in this case to be a life saver.

Holy hell. I was looking for you this morning, and just figured you decided to get a little extra sleep. Get better, Dave.
Thanks dudes. Lots of tests left and hospital days ahead and ironically I feel fine now. But I also am lying here with a defibrillator attached 24/7. Go figure. Though I will say - I think this might be the best Pawling excuse yet - sure i came in 66th but I finished on a busted ticker, bitches! I'd say that beats Al's "had to take a shit" eh Perlberg?
PS - sage advice Stokes. Have 3-4 cardios lined up to chat tomorrow.
in case you were not yet aware, this is a Kissena Sports event (a different organization).

And apparently they want to remind you of this , its on bike reg:

Events are NOT affiliated with The Kissena Cycling Club.
Conversation with a colleague today about tickers. He is a marathoner (3 hr time in Detroit a few weeks ago). He also has atrial fibrillation (which sometimes means he can't run at all). Most interesting concept was that across mammalian species, we each have about 1 billion heart beats in our life. Therefore, mice die young and exercise prolongs your life by lowering your resting heart rate.

Other more relevant thing he pointed out in discussing alternative therapies for HIS problem was that when one reads about evidence based medicine (or lack thereof) atrial fibrillation is on the top of the list. Basically, they just don't understand what causes it and all the available therapies have significant side effects and/or are unproven. This is the "bunch of reading" part of the advice. The doctors will describe what they do best - intervene. This is not always the best option.

Important disclaimer: I don't know squat about ventricular tachycardia.

Good to hear that you are feeling better.

Wow shocking news David, hope you recover well and soon.
David, hope this is an isolated event and that you dont need a device.
get better...let me know if u need anything, I know most of the staff in the cardiology departement at NYMH and have worked closely with a number of them.
Im registered for the 4/5 race.
Dosnt look to be much Kissena representation in it.
wowza david

so happy hearing that things are working out

call us if you need some junk food/Game Of Thrones sneaked into the hospital
