I'm heading to the park at noon today for 4 laps or so.
Going to be at the 90th street east side entrance at 7pm for 4-5 laps, thinking tempo pace or thereabouts.

Hey I'm off to the park to do intervals till I puke. I will be there from about 7:20 on. Sorry for the late notice!

I will be out there tomorrow too.
I will be in the park for a tempo workout from about 7:00-8:15 tonight.
Anyone interested in after work ride in Central park tomorrow (Thursday) night?
Ill be there.
got a ticket tonight in cp for "failing to yield to peds in xwalk".
I'll be out tonight for intervals. Maybe hill repeats. Tomorrow night tempo. Trying to tune up for Providence.
got a ticket tonight in cp for "failing to yield to peds in xwalk".
What happened?
rolled through the two lights on the west side at 72nd at a leisurely pace. the xwalks were pretty clear from what I recall. cop pulled me over and said I went through both reds but only wrote a ticket for failing to yield. don't know the cost yet... shoulda seen him but was spacin out.
I recommend contesting the ticket. I thought I heard that the "compromise" was that cyclists would be allowed to roll through red lights as long as no peds were crossing. You won't be able to say that in court. But just present yourself and declare not guilty and explain the situation. Even though you are technically guilty, there is a reasonable chance that the judge will dismiss the charges.

I think that Transportation Alternatives also has a place to report such incidents, if you feel so inclined. They can then use that information to hassle the NYPD about their policies.
I am definitely going to contest it.  If there were any peddies they were nowhere near me and in no danger of being struck, even if they had the crossing sign.  If they say you can roll through reds if the crossing is clear, then what if the peddies are stopping and essentially waving you through or waiting for you to pass?  If anything that's the notion I got...

Just bad timing.
Just bad policing!
More ticketing in CP this morning. 8 am at the bottom of the park. Fortunately, not me this time.
Not on 72nd and west side cross walk by any chance?
No, this was a little further down, where the pedestrian path leading from Columbus circle intersects with the park drive. One guy was nabbed for riding on the path. Not sure about the  other guy. I stopped at the red light and cursed at the cop . . . under my breath.
Cops seem to be hanging out at a number of intersections this week.

I have not been stopping for red lights in front of them... I sit up, make it really obvious I am looking out for peds in both directions, and then proceed through the light. So far no problems.

If they are going to issue tickets I think it should be to the folks with no lights riding the wrong direction around blind corners. o_0
Specifically I've been seeing them at 72nd (east and west) and at the light after the Harlem Hill descent.
Riding endurance tonight
Gonna be out there around 7pm on the track bike.  Did rollers earlier but try and get another hard ride in since it cleared up.

Central Parkerers. Heading out for an hour 30 tempo nowish!
Hey guys,

Now that the weather is nicer I've been riding tuesday wednesday and thursday mornings in the C park. I start at 90th st. on the east side at 7am.

Just wanted to know if any one was out around that time? I haven't seen any Kissena jerseys out there :( Do all you guys ride in the evenings?
Hey Graydon, I'm usually out there Tuesday and Wed evenings doing intervals and other tomfooleries but John and I have been talking about maybe doing early morning stuff- Let's try to figure something out in about a week or so.
Heading out in CP tonight, 6pm-ish, easy peasy mostly with some laughable wattage here and there. let me know, I may be flexible on time on the latter side.
Thanks for the heads up! I wont be able to today. My wife just had our baby on saturday so thats taking up most of our time right now :) Keep asking me though. My goal is to start riding again next week.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Wishing you all an easy transition into the light.
Congrats Graydon. A bit of time on a bike can go along way to keeping you sane and energized.
Going out around 7ish for a long warmup followed by 8x3mins.
