Cyclocross!

Noticing that while she is racing indi, sponsored by Canyon & Rapha, Mag Rochette has become super cozy with Trek?

-- she started a new podcast with Lucinda Brand, was super appreciative of trek at the trek races, and is now training with Lucinda & team in the famous Belgian forest.

The podcast, btw, is outta control awesome, and very very important, Lucinda clarifies: Socks go OVER the leg warmers.
I was watching the pre race interviews for Niel with Thibau Nys,the interviewer basically said to him , "you are only as good as your last race "
this shows how much pressure he's under .
They should be using crossresults. Which would agree, btw ;)
In case anyone didn't see and was planning on racing, the HPCX crew canceled the race down at Rutgers this weekend. With the incoming rain, they don't want to destroy the field that the race would have been on
Eloy, James and I are heading to Ice Weasels and Governor's Guard. Last cross weekend of the season!

Admittedly, I was on the fence about going because of the rain--getting there by train appeared to be easy.  But another mucked up race and then going home like that was giving me pause.
I was disappointed because my cross season is officially over now, but I was less upset when I rolled out of bed at 9, made coffee and got right back in
on bring what you got… I would love if someone would ask Wout, but he won zolder yesterday on a Cervelo Áspero gravel bike and not their CX bike

But then Fem won the women’s on the Cervelo CX bike

No US rounds on compact 2024-2025 Cyclocross World Cup calendar

Just another step backward for American racing.
https://cxhairs.substack.com/p/trek-cup-cx-joins-uscx-series

The four USCX dates are:
  • Round 1: GO Cross, Roanoke, Virginia, September 14/15
  • Round 2: Rochester Cyclocross, Rochester, New York, September 21/22
  • Round 3: Charm City, Baltimore, Maryland, September 28/29
  • Round 4: Trek CX Cup, Waterloo, Wisconsin, October 5/6.
Some notes:
  • The Really Rad Festival of Cross still on as a UCI C1/C2 on October 26 - 27, 2024, but not as a part of the USCX
  • There will be no livestream :(
So the good news is that a month long USCX series that has the backing of a big sponsor should attract a quality field and make it more likely that there will be good narratives for spectators…. But, the lack of a livestream is a setback in growing the sport.

Could the Kissena infield be used for a cross venue?!

I think there actually was a cross race that went through the velodrome (before the 2003 remodel).
I bet MAAP would be interested in getting involved in a NYC project also

Too bad that the Croton CX is not on the schedule this year.
Have not heard much from Croton, but it might still get on the calendar. As mentioned, my list above is preliminary. Based on the last 2 years, it would be likely fall on the Oct 5&6 Weekend.

@GregHoge, I don't think the infield at the Velodrome is large enough.

@David Yang  Yes, we had a few cross races at the Kissena Velodrome before the remodel.  The key was that the fence around the track didn't exist.  Kissena was the promoter of the last two.  I think there were some in the late 80s and early 90s as well.

In one edition, we rode over turn one into the woods.  Another time we rode out of the entry to the velodrome before hitting the woods.  I think in both we had to climb down and up to get to turn three and then get on the track.
As predicted. Croton Cross is back for 2024 on Oct 5 & 6!! Let's go race bikes!

It's been a long year, but we're excited to finally announce that the 2024 #crotoncross is back on for october 5-6! reg opens next week!

lots of folks have been asking us about our 2024 plans for a long time — unfortunately, while our 2023 weather produced some epic 'cross conditions, it also produced an epic impact on the park. since we're still very much a baby event (only our third year!!), it meant needing to work closely with our venue to ensure that the park was fully healed and to build trust that we'd be able to minimize any impact for future events before being allowed to return.

we hope that you still have space on your calendars for us — and fully understand if you don't! either way, we're stoked for another great event this year!

Kissenistas!! cyclocross is coming and so are we!

Kissena’s cyclocross clinic and season kick start will be Sunday September 1st @ 9 am.

We’ll meet at Cunningham Park – in the corner of 199 Street & Union Turnpike in Queens.
Here’s a pin to the location
75-60 199th St, Flushing, NY 11366 is a good reference.

You’ll want a bicycle with 33 tires or bigger. Some of us have a pit bike you can potentially borrow for the day. You will also need water and appropriate snacks.

We'll cover and remind ourselves of the basics:
  • Starts
  • Cornering
  • Dismounting
  • Remounting
  • Carrying the bike
  • Barriers
  • Tire selection & pressure
  • Race day planning
  • Anything you wanna cover?
If time allows we might hit the trails, and even get ice cream, and or pizza!

Let us know any comments and especially if you are coming!

A reminder for Sunday -- there is some rain in the forecast, but so far we are on. Watch this space in case that changes.

The forecast for tomorrow has gotten a bit worse, including thunderstorms, so we are canceling tomorrow’s cyclocross kickstart clinic

If interested, we can consider backup dates, possibly Monday, on slack

Sadness! BubbleCross is cancelled

https://www.bikereg.com/66790

It is with regret that the Town Cycle Bike Club will be canceling the September 21st Bubblecross Race. Scheduling conflicts with the race venue, a neighboring state's double-booking of a race, and an untimely broken collarbone has required us to cancel Bubblecross for September 21, 2024.

It is possible that the event may be back later this season and certainly we will be back for 2025! Thanks for all of your support in the past, and looking forward to a great 2024 Season for our fellow Cross Community family members!
Saw that - super bummed, it was such a good race in a great location.
