Ok, so I am trying to not suck as hard this year.

Are some of the MAC series open for reg already? I remember from last year that early reg was key to a good starting spot.

Does anyone have the skinny on what the East Coast schedule is going to be like?

And sorry I hear it, but no Granogue this year! This will leave a pretty big gap in the local (ish) October lineup. A tear has been shed.

The Granogue news is so sad. It is the highlight of many CX racers seasons. At least its for a good reason (the promoters need a rest) - and the race has a healthy chance of being back in 2013.

NYCROSS.com normally has a race the same weekend in Troy NY - Marc B went last year. I think I'll probably head up for that race .

It is possible that some other club will run Granogue. But, I won't hold my breath.

I'm starting to think about clinics in Cunningham Park in August. Stay tuned for details.

Comparing Granogue and Gloucester is like comparing apples and the Franco Prussian War. One is a delcicous snack, the other is the conflict that caused Alsace to be annexed by a newly unified Germany. There just isn't a point of comparison between them.

And what about Supercross. Not a MAC this year?

Beacon is now "Independence cross" and is part of the NJ state series, not MAC.

Supercross is still on, but not MAC this year either.

Verge is down to 3 weekends this year as well....

re the Whirlybird venue change - Bensalem is the exit for US 1 coming off of the PA Turnpike - there is a sign there that says "Welcome to Business Friendly Bensalem" that makes me laugh for some reason. So its maybe 10 minutes closer to NYC now. I wonder why it's not at the college it was at previously.

I am gonna bet moving from a college to a HS ...its likely still dry! No beer.

I take back what I said about Verge. No one leak a copy of this forum to Adam Myerson - ok ?

So Verge and Shimano are now two separate New England CX series', with all of our favorites still on the calendar.

Here is his comment on velonews.com re their article:

What a disaster this article is, and misleading. The Verge Series is only "reduced" in that it's separating from the Shimano Series. The only race not happening in the Nor'easter in Burlington, VT. We haven't been at Loon in 2 years. There are still 14 UCI races in New England next year. The 4 weekends of the Shimano Series are Gloucester, Providence, Northampton, and Warwick.

So the reason for the shorter series for MAC and Verge, is the UCI enforcing a rule they never enforced retroactively for the 2010-2011 series. So UCI said to remain a UCI CX race they couldn't run long series. It is a rule that kind of makes sense if you were in Belgium and they don't want one promoter or group running too many HUGE races, but here in the US where we can run 5 or 6 different regional series and still not fill all of the demand.
