I'll try the weekend after...
Registered for both days - cat 4

woot
I'm pretty sure I just got permission to race both days of Nittany and then jet directly to the GF's college best friends wedding immediately afterwards. And I got the car.

It might have gotten me dumped, but it is worth it right?

oh yeah,

if you don't know how to waste your life properly this fall:

The Kissena prez will risk dumpage to attend Nittany with the car. That's a rule fyi.

Is anyone sticking around from the early races to watch the rest of the day? I race at 12:00 and want to bring Luka down to race and watch the rest. Will anybody be able and willing to chill with him when I race and help him get ready for his race immediately after?

eragot - Alice and I will be there and will gladly take chill with Luka duty.
Damn gents, can't make it for Nittany, because I am getting married that weekend. I totally want to kick the $!%* out of that tree that I broke my rib on last year.

2013 will be my revenge.

I dunno Dan - if Jules can't make a tactics talk on his anniversary...something tells me Nittany CX on your first anniversary may not go over so well.
Any weekday cross stuff on the tentative calendar?
Mattie - there is the annual Wed night attempt by the NYCX gang to have cross practice at Randalls Island. I think they normally make it a few weeks then get busted up the parks dept. I can't think of any weeknight RACES .

We need an (authorized) CX training race weeknight series like they have in Northhampton MA...now to find a farmer willing to give us his land...
The Randalls Island thing was initially put on by Challenge Bike shop. I think Chabanov was an "organizer" last year. I went a time or two until we were ejected by a parks dept lackey. I had to swallow my knee jerk response to false authority figures and beg her to give back Chabanov's cones. She suggested we ride around on the roads instead of digging up the turf.

It is a real pity we cannot come to an understanding about this. Group cx practice is a great way to get better.
There's a "nice" park in my neighborhood that is used primarily for dog owners walking to and from the little red lighthouse along the hudson and soccer players during weekend days. It's rough, overgrown, has two "baseball" diamonds that make for decent sand riding practice. I've been known to practice there. It's pretty off the beaten path, and honestly I'd like to keep it that way. I fear the parks department.

Eric and Perlberg have a park out in brooklyn with legit/legal mtb-lite trails and I have to say trying to keep up with those guys helped me a lot last year.
I will have a Cx training session the first weekend in September. Stay tuned for details...
Chabs has something going on so the Randalls stuff looks like it'll be early AM now. I had done some midweek pickup races with the Rutgers crew, I may have to hit up the Army cadets.
Hoping to make it out to E's training this Sept
There is a work project with the acronym "CX" in it's name.  My inbox is taunting me...
one of the guys in the "New York City Cyclocross" group on FB put together this calendar:

Is anyone overnighting in pa?
@mjperlberg
Iron cross might be fun. 50 or 100k?

100K man. I'd do Saturday night. I think they had some lodging deal last year, I'll look into it.
Would love to but the 4 hour drive puts it pretty squarely in the NFW camp.
:(
@Mike and Eric- I'll do the 50k...probably.  Let me know what you find out about lodging.  Happy to take my car if needed.  I'll decide definitively in the next week or two.

Carlisle PA is probably a good option if we want to motel it. It is right off I-81 and about 25 minutes to the start finish.

There is camping at $10 per person if you want to rough it a little.

I think they had some sort of hostel with 25 beds but very little information on it.
I want to do it, but $80 for registration?
Lets kick our asses around for 4 hours of CX crazy.

I think $80 is reasonable.

A 40-45 minute race @ most MAC races is $30-35.

You're only racing 4 hours if you're breaking the course record. For most of us, this will be at least 4.5 hours of fun, if not 5. Getting excited yet?????
