Wow, great job.
JP. Awesome.
I should have added that La Corte was just about wetting his pants over the prospect of sprinting against Kieran.  Couldn't tell if htat was a good thing or bad thing.

Kieran, love a report.
Hey guys,

First off, JP - congrats on the awesome results! The funniest part for me was looking up from the rollers to see you do exactly the same winning move in the scratch as you did in the points! Great stuff. It was a shame about the team sprint - I should have manned the fck up and ridden 3rd, with you at 1st and Eric 2nd (would have just laid on more guilt to get him to do this). But I am glad getting the team together meant that you came down the track and kicked some ass in the other races! Eric - just think at what you missed out on by leaving straight away! (But we're on for T-Town next year, yes..? ;) )

Soooo...the match sprint. I didn't do a great ride in the qualifiers - 12.3 or 12.4 something (there was some confusion), not least due to general tiredness and poor line, and it was straight into the semi-final as third seed (merciful there were no more rounds, given how long we had waited around for - I think the 1/2/3 sprint qualifiers started at 6.30pm!). I was up against two guys from Pink Rhino - Keith and the young fast guy (Alex?). Alex (let's just call him that) went for a long one as soon as we got into the back straight on lap one. I managed to maintain him at a sensible distance at the same time as losing Keith and timed coming round Alex in the home straight. So not so much of a sprint, more like a two lap scratch....Then the 2-up final against LaCorte. I lost! Tbh it was never going be close, not with the form he's in / general strength he's got and the fitness I've got at the moment - I'm not quite sure why he was nervous, if he was! I matched him going into the final 200m, but then he was away going through turn 3 and then I sat up going into turn 4 - it doesn't help I can't ride turn 4 on that track for sh*t! Tbh, I was just happy to make it to the final and take silver - not a bad start to my NY racing career.

It was a nice re-introduction to match sprinting for me and I'm glad I stuck around - I very nearly went home after the team sprint just because I knew it would be such a long wait before the match sprints (5 hours as it turned out). It's more motivation for me to train properly again and have a decent winter. I think if I can get more power and speed back, the NYS sprint title can be Kissena's next year...

Got back home at 9.45pm and I have just enjoyed my first square meal after surviving on cereal bars and gatorade all day, it was sweet! Pretty sunburned too, my pasty Anglo-Irish skin is hurting....
Awesome results all around. I have to get a track bike and start doing this next year.
!!! you guys realize you just ROMPED this right?  "Just" some silver and gold

Nicely done!
I've never felt so bronzed - hell with tanned...
... makes me want to try it too
someone buy my old track bike! trek t1, size 55.5 TT 400$
picture, please.
@mperlberg and @vlad (and @Jules for that matter), you should definitely get a track bike! Mattie's old bike sounds like a bargain ;) I am really pleased this has ignited / re-ignited some enthusiasm for track - it was my secret goal all along...Perhaps we could organize a club session at the track at some point? It was raised in another thread re beginners.

There's the Labor Day meet coming up too of course...

This is a nice photo:

Eric with his race face on, me with a confused-looking face on (it also doubles as my race face).

@mugwump - you seem to be smiling in all of your shots - with good reason, given most of the end results - or is this just your pain face?!

Had some nice comments about the new skinsuit too - it does look great.
@ Kieran

I think the Ragot "Face of Rage" with your "Pondering tomorrow's shopping list" expression are an awesome pair.

I'm already committing mentally to the track for next year; sneaky way number 7 for me to work on that 0-1 minute power band that I find so elusive.

Nice!  You should come out and race on a loaner bike tomorrow or next Wednesday and give it a try.

For those looking to buy, Mattie's bike is race ready I believe , and comes with an inordinate amount of stickers - and everyone asking you "hey, is that Mattie's bike" ? You'll be instantly famous (or more famous).

Can't a fella be happy when racing?
Way to go guys! Way to go JP!
(JP, If you can smile during a Kilo you're something special)
