Sandbox - Trash Talk, Tall Tales & Flotsam... It's a mess in here!

This is a boring post, but it really pisses me off because how many times have I raced against these yahoos and been destroyed, time cut or otherwise eliminated from racing in large part due to the chemically enhanced ass kicking that the pink and black jerseyed dudes from Canada have dished out? I'd say too many to count, but that's not true, it's like 3-6 times.

So pissed.
I guess Ryan Aitcheson wonders how many others ahead of him doped...

Mattie doing us proud on cyclingcaptured.com
Nice!!!
Is that a motherfuckin' FOLDING FRAME?

J
YES!

(nooooo! it's a top tube, protector, yah noob! they do it all the time in japan)
Protection from what? His legs? Is he afraid his legs are going to damage his top tube?
"to avoid denting your top tube, for times when your drop handle bars swing around and knock the frame"

http://www.clementecycles.com/tt_protect.htm
To expand on that theme..on a track bike, with no brake or derailleur cables, if the front wheel is off the ground the steel bars will swing with no resistance and the natural stopping point is when the end of the bar smacks into the top tube, chipping the paint or denting it. Folks sometimes use electrical tape wrapped around the top tube at the key contact point in lieu of a purpose-built top tube protector. I can understand how in that photo you might mistake the protector for one of those S&S couplers.
mattie is so nice acting and so scary looking

not sure the point of this article and the lame story about him as a 15 year old, but I want the list of 200+ riders!

You're not the only one. Allegedly, Papp tried to sell the list, but was rebuffed.

Papp can be charming, so maybe he wowed the author, who is the editor of cyclingnews.
Even better is the image Cyclingnews uses on their homepage. Papp in a Westwood Velo jersey. ooof
Be careful out there folks:

White,
Thanks for the links. Reminds me that I got chased down and yelled at by a cop in a putt-putt after I got too close to a woman pushing a stroller. CP: I had the light was riding steady and predictably and saw there was a woman pushing a stroller with her head down not noticing anything. I yell, she speeds up and nearly hits me. So he chases me down, yells at me some, waits for me to respond. I tell him I wish he'd be looking out for me, as the police have never been around when I've been hit. I tell him how we get threatened by peds and motor vehicles and never does the cyclist get any protection. Yes, it felt good.

Best yet. He demurs from following me around: "My job is dangerous enough," he says.
We need to get these guys riding... going head to head with the boys in blue is not a winning strategy.
Does anybody know anybody in the local PD? FD?

I know we're killing it in 'cross. It would be great to get an accounting.

It's pretty simple. We want all 2011 results. Road, Track, CX, MTB, Tri', Endurance, Alley Cat, etc. Any competition. Results are defined by any time you placed in the top ten of a race, with or without prize money. If you finished lower than 10th, but received a prize, we want that as well. Like if you're 15th and got $10 for it, put that in. If you were 3rd, but got no prize, put that in as well.
Info about cross upgrades posted below so you can berate your sandbagging competitors with authority:

1D4. Cyclocross Upgrades
Cyclocross categories are upgraded similarly to road upgrades using the system below:
(a) Requirements for upgrading via points:
4-3: Experience in 10 qualifying races or 10 points in 12 months
3-2: 10 points in 12 months (two wins is an automatic upgrade if the field had at least 11 competitors)
2-1: 20 points in 12 months (two wins is an automatic upgrade if the field had at least 40 competitors)

USA Cycling may add additional requirements for upgrading at their discretion. Any such changes shall be made available on the website.
other big issue:

you can upgrade your cross category to your road category (or mtb category)

that adds a whole new dimension to cx sandbaggery, although it really is another discipline with distinct skills
Not that you can upgrade, but you can request an upgrade. Its not automatic.
My LBS (Huntington, Long Island) apparently used to be further west and used to sponsor the club in the 1980s. In the shop they have a Kissena Jersey. According to club laws, I could race in that, right?!

By the way, this bike shop is changing in 2 weeks to a Specialized concept store. Apparently he will have access to the McLaren/Specialized Venge. Any interest in renewing sponsorship? Would benefit me at least, as I get my stuff there anyway! Anyone who is keen on an SL4 or other ridiculously good and overpriced Specialized rig would also benefit.

The Kissena jersey. I'm not sure which one I like more, our present one or this one:
