Warning! PoPo's clipping cyclists on 1st avenue, especially closer to 14th.
Why you ask? Bc I was "going too fast". Um, I had just turned off of 12th and couldn't have been going faster than 10mph. Is there even a posted limit? And if you want to go faster and ride in a lane, they'll get you for that....
They also stopped a guy who started going with the pedestrian light, which the cops couldn't see, so they thought he was jumping it and were going to write him a ticket. I think he was gonna get out of it but I took off once they sternly told me "go on".

I have a "get outta jail free card" in the form of a paramedic license, remember?! I was in commuter clothes so I was definitely not looking fast, just dorky. I was going to a place on 1st so it's the most direct route. Yeah, there were about 3-4 squad cars and 6 or so cops (maybe something else was going on?), so when they told me to scram I just beat it and didn't bother arguing about what the speed limit is in the bike lanes.
I'm all for being safe and that's why if I'm going over 10-15 I get out of them: they're a shitshow of random activity and at those speeds they're not safe. I wouldn't want some racer buzzing me at 27 in them either. But I dunno if the police were really interested in my reasoning and rational so I didn't push the issue....

I've come back to NYC for the next 2/3 months!
My PA-GA Appalachian Trail hike was epic; Sandy covered the trail with 4 feet of snow, my feet always hurt and got blisters the size of oranges, I ended up starving for 3 days as I ran out of food, a gas cannister almost blew me and my buddy up, I swam across the Shenandoah River, ended up getting stuck and hyperventilating on a 40 foot free rock climb 5 feet away from the top, a fellow hiker was in the final stages of hypothermia and we had to share a sleeping bag, my shoes never dried out once wet, i lost a shit load of gear and can't currently move as it seems I pulled something in my back and my thigh/hip hurts like hell after trying to keep up with a girl and doing consecutive 30 mile days. BUT it was EPIC and I savored every moment. : D
Anyway I rebuilt my cervelo and was cruisin down the streets this evening. Look for me soon on a group ride.
