Cyclocross Worlds

Hey all,

I'm planning on a trip to Louisville. Anyone else planning on going?

I think it would be fun to drive but only if it's with a car full that can share the driving. I think it's about 13 hours from NYC. Leave NYC Friday morning and leave KY Monday morning. I think min of 3 people in order to make the driving times less onerous. Gas will cost about $250 split however many ways.

If I can't get at least 2 others to commit in the next week or so I'll probably by an air ticket. About $300 RT at the moment.

I'll be rooming with my bro and buddy from Portland. I think you can get a room for about $100 not too far from the venue.

Anyone?

We need to get a headcount. I can stay with a friend's family, but might prefer a hotel with 'mates.

Flying is preferred as I've made the drive before. If people want to drive though, I can certainly help out with the driving.

I have a good friend in Louisville and might go. I drove a few years ago on my way to points west. Took two days to get to Louisville, trying to be civilized and stopping to have some fun along the way. I'm inclined to agree with Eric about flying.
What about a hotel? So far the three on this thread have friends. Is this a club debauchery fest or what?
I can lend you my tent.

I'd definitely be up for this, I didn't realize they were in the US next year! It's a perfect opportunity for me to see some more of your fine country (why did they pick Louisville btw?) and see some ultra-fast Belgians cheered on buy some frite-wielding Belgians.

Having no friends in Louisville however, I'd have to go for a hotel. I can't drive in the US so flying would be my preference (essentially I'd be deadweight to the group. Enthusiastic deadweight).
if we did a fly out after work on Friday type of thing I could swing it. The Monday and Friday off are tough for me to pull off.
Fly Friday. Take Monday off.
Yeah, so far it looks like people prefer flying. There are flights out Friday evening and back Monday morning. Unless someone chimes in soon on the driving I'll probably just pull the trigger on a plane ticket.

Kieran, I don't know too much about it but that area has a pretty big cross scene, they host one of the USGP cup weekends every year, and from what I understand they have a dedicated cyclocross park. Why they picked the US I don't know.
Got my ticket. I'm on the Delta non-stop out of JFK at 3:40 pm on Friday and on the noon flight back on Monday.

I'll be staying with my brother and buddy from Portland at the Ramada Downtown North.
I just booked a double room at the Galt House hotel. Anyone want to share?

I'll fly in Friday evening and come back Monday morning.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to pull the trigger on this. Tickets for the race go on sale this Thursday. I'm kinda shocked at the idea of paying for tickets to watch CX but I guess it is the world championships.
I'm about to book the flight. should we book another room at the galt house? I am not planning on renting a car. I figure the parties will be local.
Why not fly to Tennessee to watch cyclocross? Gonna buy some tickets today and am definitely up for sharing a room.

Which flights did people buy?
Thanks for reminding me to buy airfare Jeff.

I'm booking:

OUTBOUND | Fri, 01 Feb 2013 | 5:25PM LGA to 7:52PM SDF | Nonstop | DL 6088
RETURN | Mon, 04 Feb 2013 | 12:00PM SDF to 2:05PM LGA | Nonstop | DL 6026

That's the same flight I will book.
So, how many rooms do we need? 2 per room - I say.
Maybe we can get adjoining...
Got the same flights. Again, I'm comfortable sharing a room.
Cool. I am in seat 14B for both flights. Let's get a Kissena section going?

I have one room at the Galt. Sounds like we should book a second room before they fill up? We can always cancel it.

Jeff are you happy to stay at the Galt? It's the HQ hotel and the event rate is $119/night. If so -

Confirmed (staying at the Galt): Ragot, Chiles, Jeff White
Confirmed (staying Ramada): Jim Nelson & co.
On the fence: Perlberg, Stokes, Kieran

Who else?
I'm interested. I'll confirm when I can.

I'm on an earlier flight out on Friday to coordinate arrival with my homies from PDX but same noon flight back on Monday.

I will book tonight then.
If tickets do not sell out immediately, I am totally in.
Done - booked.

Got my 2 day pass!

40 bucks includes hugs and vomit from a drunk Belgian in the midst of a bourbon versus gin "taste off".

BOURBON!!! WHoooot!
Are there supporting USAC races? Like that we can do?

Don't think so.

I booked my flight, seat 14C on the same Delta flight listed above.

I also booked my 2 day ticket.

I also booked a 2-queen room at the galt. do we need it? If so, I'll call and see if we can get it adjacent to Derek's room.
Mike, that room would be for me and you. White and chiles are bunking together.

I'll bring the massage oils.
I'm booked.  Staying at the Galt house, flying in on the 2pm flight, out on the early flight Monday morning.

Fingers crossed we can wrangle some VIP action through the Canadians...
