Winter Computrainer Rides

@Mark - trainer #8 is broken

I think the wear and tear that is put on those machines by multiple users over is season is underestimated.

I bet ride didn't start pulling a return on their investment in the space and equipment until they equipment started breaking down.
Ride got the machines from City Coach, which had them for many years before Ride took over. I'd estimate that -they are 6-7 years old at this point with heavy use.
I have a trainer tire, but I'm by no means a heavy user of it. The differences I noticed compared with a normal tire are no fine rubber bits around the floor for the trainer tire which I would get with normal tire ("clag" as David Hobbs would say about tire debis in F1 racing), the trainer tire is noticeably cooler than a normal tire after riding, the wear (lack of) on a trainer tire is much better.
@Mark
The "fast" machine that Nosson cranked out 312W on.
Or Grant cranking out 321 watts in the second shot....either that or Mr. Harding has some 'splaining to do about those bruises on his arm.

Not sure what happened to Whitey's though.  Did he just bail?  Flat?

It was too hot for me so I bailed and rode in the park. It was like 60 out!
Guys, we are looking for someone to coordinate the sessions with Ride. I think Neil and John have done it in the past. Can anyone take on this bit of volunteer work to make these sufferfests happen for a third straight year?
I have a trainer tire.  This is from Continental's site:

Thanks to its special cold-running compound, the Hometrainer doesn’t experience the heat buildup of a road tire, nor does it suffer the tread separation that the road tire is prone to under the special loads occurring when cycling and braking on the roller’s revolving drums.

I think it's a quieter tire. Also, some people at Ride appreciate it when you use a different and cleaner tire on the computrainers. Nobody wants to clean up your nasty shmutz.

I'll take the lead on setting up the Ride BK sessions.

...add this to the short list of reasons that I wish we were still in Brooklyn.  *sigh*
vlad - I can still do it . Happy to hand it off though. I'll email you details
I'm definitely in.
To clarify, I'm in for the Ride Brooklyn series...assumign there's still slots. Who's organizing (John says Vlad.)
Any chance we can do Tuesday? If so I'm in.

Might it be possible to do a Tuesday and Wednesday?

I can easily do Wednesday.

However, if all we can do it Tuesday, I can do 6pm, but Luka is coming and he's learning to DJ!

really, though, it's best not to bring Luka...

I'm not sure about availability, but I wanted to gauge interest beforehand. Please choose your preferred day and be serious about your commitment level. I'm operating under the assumption that we'll be able to get multiple days and/or time slots if demand is high enough. I think it's also safe to say that these will be in the evening.
Voted before I saw the results. Wednesday is fine too.
Here's a survey. Let's see what people want.

coming soon ...
Never mind. SurveyMonkey is retarded. And so am I, as Vlad already made a forum poll.
keep it up
poll
I voted Wed but I could do Tuesday as well. AM or PM are both good.
I can do Wed too.
i voted for wednesday - but i doubt i'll be a regular.  would definitely sub for folks if you ever need bodies, though.
I think, more than anything, we will need money. I doubt that these will be free.
They won't be free. In general, someone has collected the money from the team and paid ride.
It looks like Wednesday is the day that works best for most. Does last year's formula of 2 sessions (6pm and 7:45pm) still make sense?

Is Nov. 7 a good day to start or too soon? Let me know what you think. I'm particularly interested in knowing what session you prefer and when you can start attending them. All other comments are appreciated too (except for William's, those are just annoyances).

I'd rather not start another poll, so if you can leave your time and date preference in the comments, that would be great.
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I'm trying to firm up the Ride BK sesh deal... so click on the 'poll' hyperlink above to chime in.
@vlad - just  so you know, if people leave you hanging about paying you, the club will cover your expenses.
i'd pay for my spot if i was asked to sub, of course....

Wed at 6 is great for me.  Count me in.
