My G3 Powertap just died, it first gave out crazy numbers and then zilch. I replaced the battery twice thinking that I bought a defective one but I have still zero response from the unit. Did this problem happened to anyone of you?

Damnit.  From what, a pothole?  I felt my rear brake pad rubbing so I opened the lever.  When I took the wheel off to take a look at home, I found this huge groove in my wheel.  Reynolds Assault from 2012.  It's held up pretty well, considering the Brooklyn streets and my weight.

Ouch.. I'm very curious as to what happened Bruce since I have the same model wheels. Did Reynolds say anything when you called them?

It reminds me of a vinyl record that's warped due to heat. Possible damage from braking on descents?

I've raced my set at Floyd many times and never had an issue so I know they're durable.

Hey Phil.  I sent Reynolds an email with the pictures, told them I had no warranty.  The woman who responded didn't ask any questions about the wheel; she just wanted to confirm I wanted it to be fixed.  When I said yes, she sent an RMA number and address and said they'd fix it under their Crash Protection pricing.  Easy as pie.  And rest assured, if something happens to one of your wheels, they'll fix it.  I like these guys.

Latex tubes are faster.  THey're also more supple, which would be a reason to use them in CX.

I just bought some Veloflex Master 25mm open tubular clinchers...They are kind of the same tire as the Vittoria Open Corsa...but the width for the Veloflex is narrower than the Vittoria.  My Vittoria 25's on the Stan's Alpha rims (with a wide inner cavity...laughing) are really close to 28mm where the Veloflex 25's on the same rim are closer to a true 25mm.

Just from my experience with 23mm Veloflex masters years ago, they rode beautifully, but seemed delicate (rubber tread wore quickly, aka easy flats) and sucked in the rain.

Yang's the new anti flat belt thingy seems to work well...I rode my 25mm vittoria's all winter on the lie service road with no flatty's

Marc they are lighter as well. So I would actually skimp on a 25mm tube and get the 18-23mm and cut more weight. 

I've never had a problem with the 23mm latex tubes in 25mm Vittoria tires... Those tires are so fucking wide I feel like I'm in the middle of a balloon race when I ride them.

BB30 n'aime pas las pluie.

After riding home in the rain on Tuesday evening, my bike was croaking mightily all the way up the bikeway this morning. An oncoming rider called me a 'bike frog'.

Thinking of Brendan (I think it was Brendan), I retrieved some 3-in-1 oil from a toolbox at work at applied liberally to the crevices between crank and BB shell. Spun the cranks a bit. And voila.

My evening ride around CP was lovely. . . and I could hear the crickets singing in the grass.

David, as far as I can tell the oil drip thing is from me.  I'm glad someone else can verify that it works.  I may need to reapply as there is a slight creak since the very rainy L&C finale.

@yang. I generally have a poor memory of who said what (including myself), so I'm sure you are right.

But I don't expect this to be a real solution. After my ride in the rain yesterday, I can already hear the clicking coming back again. I fully expect to take the BB apart (again) in order to make it happy. I just think it is going to be one of the things to add to my routine maintenance list.

My BB30 has been quiet, with the exception of a few weeks ago. The recent noise was due to my bearings needing to be replaced. So with 5,000 miles on them I swapped them out and I'm back to a quiet BB. Other than that I've never done any maintenance on my BB30.
