Anyone?

Pretty stacked A field.

It's going to be a beat down. 

First time I've seen a P123 race fill up before any of the others.

I did this a few years ago with Ian and Patrick. It's a good race. Nice course and well run.

how was the race. it looks good on paper!

Personally I love the course, because it mainly small, twisty, rough lanes on open roads. So it it reminds me of racing in England !

The B field split into half about mid-way through the first lap. I was in the front half, but only just and eventually got dropped from that lead group during lap 2. Then completed three laps riding thru-and-off in small groups as we picked up and dropped riders we found out on the road.

For people who care about such stuff, my AP was 248W and NP 262W (so not that much coasting with all the cross winds). For 1hr 50m. It was Hard.

The 123 race was super hard, much harder than anything I've raced so far this year. Fast from the gun with no let up. At points, I looked down at my Garmin only to see that we were clocking 34mph on the flats. On a few occasions, I also found myself spinning out in my 53x11 just trying to sit in. Like I said, no let up.

I was hurting pretty bad when a mechanical took me out on the second lap. My rear skewer must have sensed my duress and decided to come loose out of shear pity. I kept feeling my rear wheel lurching backwards when I was sprinting out of the saddle and by the time I pulled off the road and tightened it up, the race was gone.

Keith raced well, but bonked on the last lap. Yeah, that's how hard it was.

I want another taste. I'll be back next week.

i am tempted for this saturday.  need to get in as much battenkill prep as possible.

if i go, i will have space for two more people.

OK, I'm reg'd for the 3/4 race, even though it sounds like folks of my ilk should expect simply to get ridden off.

Thinking about this, too...OK, back to thesis writing so I can justify going.

I'm already signed up! Marck can I grab the other spot?

I'm disappointed at the complacency of many of the riders in the field. I think the way the break stuck was because it looked very non threatening at first- 2 guys going off front on 1 st lap, and 2 more guys bridging solo one after the other. However whenever speeds were fast and jumps were made, nothing got away- Riders were not willing to get in the pain cave to try and reel in a break that John and I worked hard at bringing down to 20 seconds and in sight with 10 miles to go. We were working together (John and I) with the field chasing behind us and expanding energy to keep us on leash but not willing to take over and get to the break. weird and somewhat pissed off.

This is typical behavior in Cat 4 and Cat 3 racing. It's incredibly frustrating and a big reason why I generally opt to race in the 123 races. Just a bunch of dummies really... literally actually.
