New York State Championship Race

As 2012 has no Pawling or Bear Mountain, so Tour de Syracuse is hosting the state champs.

There are actually three races that weekend, a TT, crit and road race.  Can do them all or one.  It is quite a trek (Syracuse of course) so might be fun to do Saturday crit and Sunday road race and make a weekend of it

The road race looks great, and finishes with a climb.  Won't be a field sprint!

*My first post was meant to read 2013, not 2012.

If I can get a couple of confirmed for this race.  I'd be happy to look into arranging rental and accommodation.  Any more people who would consider...

I like it but there is almost nobody registered for this thing. Not a single cat 3 signed up for the RR.

I've done this race for many years in a row. It's a really nice low-key, hyperbole-free event.

Even though there is almost no one registered for this, I'm tempted. There are currently only 6 in the Cat 5 - under 35. Are you guys looking at just the RR, or the omnium?

RR only.  Not sure it would be worth 2/3 night accommodation costs on top.

hey, this looks intriguing, i would love to enter either the cat4 or masters 45+; i'd prefer cat4 if we could have 1-3 KCC teammates(or same w/masters)...
v. nice (1day, sunday course) NYS RR championship, climbing&country roads *bling* for top(3)places; i would need rides, will share expenses?

I actually met the cat4 champ of that race randomly while going for a ride in the catskills at the bottom of a climb! he was from bike depot and lives in newburgh, ny. nice guy, he was with cat5 winner of battenkill who took off from his field after 11miles! needless to say, I got smoked on the climb ahead...cat 5 guy later told me his heart rate never went up over 165 after i told him my cardio needed work, loved it.

For those who have signed up for this year's race at Hunter Mtn, I can accommodate up to 4 riders at my house. Aaron has already expressed interest and may need a ride up on Friday after work. The race is only 20 min from my house and you'll get to enjoy a hearty breakfast before the race. I plan on taking Friday off so if anyone wants to come up during the day and try and get a pre ride in on many of the great roads in the area LMK. PM offline if you are interested.

As a side not to Alyoshas thread above. The guy to watch out for in the Cat 4 field will be James Stafford from Bike Depot. The guy is a beast. He took 2nd at the Battenkill in my group after breaking away from the group and putting in a 10+min gap. I have raced with him numerous times and one time in particular was at the Tour of the Catskills, when I had at least a 2 min advantage on him on Devil's Kitchen. He basically flew by me spitting out gravel from his rear wheel. Nuff said...

the laps are long.  How did they manage feeding in versions past?

And, of course, who all is going?

JP I did the old course but that was a 40 mile lap and as I recall there was only one feed zone and it was near the start finish.

The course is kind of interesting. If the race can be made hard that final short climb will be exciting. If no one makes it hard, however, it'll just be a medium paced group ride with 40 contenders all sprinting up the hill.
