On Bernal, he is so young that to expect consistency from him at this stage is probably unwise. With the recent successes of other young riders in big stage and 7 day races it maybe easy to forgot that at this point in his development he may lack the endurance/resilience both mentally and physically that older riders have developed. It's also a distinct possibility that like many young sports stars who achieve success early on, the wear and tear on a young body can be devastating once they get into their 2nd or 3rd year as a full time pro. Happens in football, cricket, rugby (sports with poorly defined/mandated rest periods for players) all the time.
I have to say , what ever drugs anyone has been on , I’ve really warmed to Bernal , gave long interviews after each stage failure , not often you see that

today
all the idiot fans running along side the riders with out masks 🤦
dude, it’s the juice ;)
Also important to remember that all of their guys are like really really good
the beauty of this race, really, knows no bounds. No matter how you slice it, today was beautiful.

I swear he must have the movie rights to that phrase but I’ll admit it sounds better every time i hear it

Also his jersey is so beautiful
So Sepp Kuss has Slovenian grand parents , and went back when he was 12 (to drink from the fountain of watts)

I got to 27 seconds and had to turn it off.
^reminds me of a former colleague and massive fan who named his first son "Lance"

That boy can just say that his father was a huge fan of the Knights of the Round Table
I’m totally loving Sam Bennett’s interviews
fair play to him , would be great to see him win the green Jersey , first Irishman since his home town hero Sean Kelly
do think his buddy Caleb will get the stage on Sunday
I don’t usually love TTs, but what the F is happening?

WVA  was SMILING up the last bit of the climb!

Could Pogacar overtake the yellow Jersey and Dumoilin win stage!!?? That would be insane

The fans in the middle of the road are awful
Crazy stuff
Couldn’t the get Roglic a helmet in his size

So many stories:

Porte on podium
Pogacar trouncing Roglic AND TT aces dumoilin, Wout, and Cavagna
Pog gets the KOM jersey

POG IS ONLY 21!

Pog  had NO team!
Poj ca simply cruise on the wheels , de la Cruz was there till late
The TT will be where he nails the win

The little head rub from Dumoulain - he probably knows better than anyone how tough that is.

Also the sportsmanship (or professionalism) of Roglic is beyond reproach today.
Props to Roglic for the gesture.

While an insane finish to the Tour and amazing to see everything get turned upside down, I can't write I'm happy about it.  Going in, I was worried what it would mean if Van Aert won the TT.  Now I feel Pogacar taking everything might be worse.
omfg
Real happy to see Porte in a podium spot. I was hoping that Dumoulin would take back a bunch of time in the TT and make the podium, but that scenario went off the back pretty early on.

OK, now to actually watch today's stage...
Do we think JV maybe road the whole race a little defensively ?
I disagree; that climb was always going to be a lynchpin. I think Roglic knew or feared he’d underperform and thats why he was constantly trying to chip time.

This tour felt like a Vuelta (minus Menchov sliding in the rain) and it had all the feels. As pro wrestling matches go, this was a damn good one.
Also - seriously, WTF was up with that helmet?

My guess is twofold.

First, either they tested or believe that having the helmet tipped so far back (with the visor on) is faster when in the aero bars.

Second, he's wearing a too-small size to possibly improve aerodynamics.
