this doesn't look too far away:

It is very close to all stages. 10 minutes to TT, 15 minutes to crit, 35 mins to RR.
but the catch is it would have to be a 3 night minimum. Total cost would be $450. Divided by 7 folks that would be $65 per person. I can front the security deposit. There might be cleaning fee which could add 10-15 per person. Check in would be 6PM Thursday, checkout 4PM sunday.
Right now I have:

Sound good? Let me know and I'll move forward with it.
FYI: this place is small and rustic. 1 bathroom. we will need to bring spring water for cooking drinking etc.

Stokes State forest has cabins and other types of rentals, for families and groups, I'm going to call and ask some questions today.

3 days of lack of drinking water and one bathroom for a bunch of dudes who need pre-race shits and post-race showers is a bit too rustic for this old man.
I think if I'm doing this I'll look to do the commute. If anybody is into that (especially you fancy drivers) let me know. I've got a bike 3-bike trunk rack we can use.
Otherwise maybe I'll look into a car rental.
I'm working out the details now.
OK,
I am going to do both the Crit and the Circuit, er., Road Race. NOT the time trial as there is no need to for anybody.

If you are looking to do well in a “stage race” then I suppose you do the TT, but this “stage” race does not count in NYC for upgrade purposes, so in effect, you only have two races to do – the Crit and “RR”. So, I see no benefit.
If you are a 4/5, there are no upgrade points for stage races, so it’s a moot point.
Thus, driving back and forth is no big deal – the traffic is light, the trip relatively short and the times are fine – 1pm and 9:30am start times for the races on Sat / Sun respectively.
Just putting it out there so that there is no confusion or feeling of necessity to do the “Stage” race.
Oh, if you are wondering why I call it a “stage” race. There are points on offer for each stage (SRs may be run as points races) but the points only go 15 deep. That’s fine, but the Crit and RR are open to anyone, thus the “SR Points” only go to the “SR” participants if non-stage race riders do better than the SR riders. Thus the “GC” winner bears no resemblance to reality in terms of an actual stage race. Thus, NYSBRA doesn’t count it.
But if you want to race a “stage” race, go for it.
I'm about to send in the deposit for that rental cabin.
$700 total for 3 nights, $250 security deposit refundable, so it will be $450 / total staying.
This is what I have right now. That would be $75 each. If you're thinking about bailing, let me know asap.

I haven't signed up yet, but would be interested in the 45+ category, which is somewhat later than the other races.
