Giro Del Cielo

I am considering it. Will know once closer to the date.

Augusta is very close, so I would be likely to simply drive back and sleep home on Saturday.
I'll be there!
I don't think I'm gonna make this, despite my earlier affirmations.
Registered and have a minivan rental for cheap, have space for 2 more people and bikes.

I am a strong maybe.

My only reservation is the distance. Seems short, with only 60ish miles of racing all weekend for Men's 4/5. The Road Race is 34 miles long with one notable climb that's only a quarter mile long.

What's this race like? The course looks short and fun.

Besides Sebastian, are there any other CAT 4/5s going?

@Greg, track back this thread and you'll see a lot of love for this race, also lots of good tips.

Right on. I just spent the last 20 minutes reading up old posts. Sounds like a fantastic race. Especially the RR stage.

This would be a good race for me. Ends on a down hill, minimal climbing, fast and short. I am going to sign up and try to convince Tess to do the same.

One question. Is it lame if I skip the TT leg and just race the Crit and RR?

Looks like skipping a stage just effects GC eligibility, and as of right now, Sebs is the only CAT 4 M signed up anyway. 3 person min to be in the running for GC points. Unless it's coed grouping and across CATs...been reading the rules online and can't figure it out.
I recommend do it all Greg, GC results are the bee's knees.

Second that. Racing a stage race is a special thing. You don't want to miss it. And the training effect ...

Any 3s or Masters doing this? I planning on it.
Just a heads up reg closes at midnight tonight.
Giro is already closed for me....

RIP beloved KOGA :'(
I think I'm doing better than my bike.... Have two weeks to figure something out. Btw. does anyone know something about a crash replacement of POC helmets?
oh no! Ulrike I am hope you are ok, please take good care.

Definitely talk to Redbeard about bicycles. Altho I wonder if the Koga could potentially be repaired?

Sending you my best wishes.
I hope you are better off than the bike and helmet.
Ugh, that frame break is crazy. Sorry you hit the deck, Ulrike. Heal up!
Thanks, guys. I'm doing okay so far. Grazes and a strong bruise of my hip (unfortunately on different sides...) are the main problem. Headaches are not as strong as yesterday.

@eloy Since I'm going back to Germany in three month I don't want to buy a new bike here which I have to ship then  :/
Totally stinks about your bike Ulrike, but again, I was pretty relieved to see you walking off the course.

GDC did treat me a bit better, 9th in the TT, 9th in the crit, 11th in the road race, put me at 7th overall in the GC. Overall, not too shabby for my first stage race. Its a very well run race and I'll absolutely keep it on my short list for next year. There was some classic dodgey handling skills by a good part of the pack, so I found myself up front for both the crit and road race a bit more than I probably should have been, but it felt much safer so I just sort of went with it.

I will say, I don't recommend a TT bike for the actual time trial, the hills are rolling but a few are quite punchy and I think I would have faired better on my roadie.
Nice job Christina.
Christina! 7th overall in your first stage race is no joke - that's a big Damn Deal. Congratulations!

Ulrike - NO!

Two things to consider: 1) the Redbeard discounts are great - and they'd probably ship it straight home for you. 2) there is a local genius Paul Carbonara who repairs carbon frames when he's not playing guitar with Blondie or winning bike races.
Giro Del Cielo is coming up RSN ... weekend of July 4th. Any takers for this year's event?

Thinking of going, reg closes midnight tomorrow. Anyone else? Giro del Cielo
You can sign up for GC or individual stages (do PP saturday, GDC circuit race sunday).

TBD did a recon and writeup of the new course.
I like the idea of racing Saturday in Prospect and Sunday GDC, but I think Sunday is the GDC crit? (35ish minutes)
45 min for cat 3 or masters 50+, 2.3 mile loop: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39768413
