July 4th Ride

Anyone know where the Manhattan entrance to the north side of the GWB is ?

Yeah...so, you go like you normally would, but keep going north, riding underneath the bridge itself, hang the first left you can, it will look like you are riding onto the bridge roadway, but just before you get to the merging portion of the road, you hop onto a side walk that will take you to a series of steps...
may you ride with purpose: http://youtu.be/OTVHAIHDRcg?t=1m18s

i won't be making it.  bier hall and beauty sleep.

mr. bertucco, feel free to save yourself the forty-ish cents and entrust delivery of the gift card to those who live closer to me if they're willing to have it: yang, clifford, joaquin; it's even rumored that malcolmson lives in fort greene. i will likely, but sadly, see them before i see you :(  i need me a group ride. maybe i'll get one in this weekend.  once i move to the heights i'm sure i'll be a regular

happy 4th and happy riding! sorry to miss you folks!
Done. Muffins at Kondatori are warm.
Whitey flatted twice, the second time with a nasty cut to the sidewall.  Alex and I had to head back early anyway so we rode back easy with Jeff and got a new tire at Strictly.

Time for some HOTDOGS.
Mmmm, enjoy your veggie BBQ yang!
great riding today.

probably the biggest kissena ride i have ever attended.  and most definitely the hottest.  damn that humidity was brutal.

we separated at piermont, bertucco leading a slower ride; alyosha, konrad and a few other non-kissenas went their separate ways; that left joe, ryan, stokes, vollbach and me to head out and back to rockland.  all in all i had us clocking in at ~80 miles.

now... time for the tour, beer and fireworks.  happy 4th all.

the kissena train.
70 miles on the dot, and about 12 bottles of fluids. I was gross almost all day today, mega sweater, to the point that Aly said something to me. Walked in the door , emptied my pockets, and walked right into the shower in kit. Great riding today.

except for the company, and the fact that we were not at work, today was FUCKING UNPLEASANT!

Ian and I melted in the heat, and barely made it home, even after being the first to turn back in Piermont

my ass is KILLING me

in bed, nursing an icy bourbon and very happy i got to ride with you goofballs today

Lotsa fun meeting everyone today.  Got separated from the group just at Old Mtn/9W so hit the lake and rolled back solo, which was literally a hot mess.

Don't think the kit will ever dry.

However, should you need planning for this eve:

This ride wrecked me yesterday. I thought we weren't going that hard so I couldn't figure out why I was so shelled. Then I got home and saw a 260+ bike score. In that heat, that's a big day.
@Ryan, I don't know what your fancy numbers mean, but if 260 means pain, then I agree. If you can't tell by it taking me 3 days to post a ride report, I was wrecked after Thursday. After getting my heart-rate up watching Stokes nearly get pancaked by a wandering SUV, and then getting schooled in uphill sprinting by Ryan on the final 9W rise nearing Strictly, I'd say it was a pretty full day. I managed a nap then nursed a headache for the rest of the day (probably dehydration). I did manage to pry WDC away from nursing his tenderized loins to come grab a High Life and some tacos, so America's day was fully honored (with "Mexican" food from a "Chinese" joint. MELTING POT!).

Good ride dudes.
If you want more I'll be out for three long days Tuesday through Thursday.
anyone up for a trip across the hudson on Wednesday?
I am riding but riding to my friend's house in Lake Carmel... and staying there for the day. Doing the Putnam trail until Sleepy Hollow if anyone wants to tag along. Leaving at 7:30ish AM...
Bear Mountain Thursday?
If I can work it out with the family I am in. If not, I may be able to do so on weekend

Will be turning the First Thursday Social into a casual ride this month, so will be at the BB 8am, GWB 9am, though flexible with start times.  Planning on River Road and turning back after Alpine.  Will be glad to have company from Brooklyn for anyone heading off to Bear.
Well, sure, now that summer is officially here and good weather abounds, I'm battling a viscous summer head cold that invited it's brother-in-law Allergies to stay for a while.  The only thing I'm riding tomorrow is my couch.
Do post if you're meeting at the BB, so others know you're going to be there.  Have a great ride and stay safe.
I’m in for 8am BB
i plan to be there too
Hot fun
