July 4th Ride

question: do you love america?  if yes, read on.  if no, then shame on you, socialist.

july 4th.  thinking of riding early and long.  route and times are TBD.

think about it: a day off from work opening with a long ride with friends, followed by a few cold beers on the couch whilst watching the tour, followed by fireworks and more cold beers.  it doesn't get better than that, america.
How appropriate that the ride will start with a journey over the East River, where we allowed Washington and his band of renegades to slip through our fingers.
How are the German lessons coming along, Ian?  Oh, right.....

@Clifford, depending on start time I may turn around earlier, but count me in!
I'm renowned across Facebook and Twitter for my patriotism. I'll be there!
OK, I'll be Washington, Clifford is Cornwallis, Ryan will be Benedict Arnold. And we can pretend Stateline is Yorktown. (If Bradley were Yorktown, the traitor would win -- sorry Ryan, whistleblower.)
Can I cannon fodder?
The good news - last night I opened my flight case and re-assembled my bike post-vacation so I will tag along
The bad news - i returned from vacation in May, so i might get dropped on Brooklyn Bridge

count me, my tricorner and my wooden teeth in!
Yes, please. I've been lazy, errr, I mean resting... Need something of substance.

would an 8am departure from the GWB be too early for you fools?
yes
Earlier the better for me.

I may tag along ,and hold wheels for as long as i can

We prefer 9 at the GWB, but might be willing to compromise with 8:30 depending on the consensus.

let's say 8:30 at the GWB

i will be at the Brooklyn Bridge (Brooklyn side) at 7:30

really looking forward to getting the band back together
so let's say 7:30 BB / 8:30 GWB.  good for everyone?

we can figure out the route as we go along. i imagine some people will peel off early.

and this jersey is mandatory.

looks like the GWB south walkway will be closed tomorrow.  north it is.

in!  Will be at the BB at 7:30... i presume its the main path right at Tillary St?
^ yes.
I've never taken the north side...ADVENTURE!
^ one of the most efficient ways to ruin cleats in NYC !
^ jumping on the up arrow, lower case start to a sentence bandwagon.
errggh I hate the north side. descending the footbridge on the Jersey side is difficult for those of us who suffer vertigo ! Maybe if we all sing raucous songs of independence it will be distracting enough to prevent me freezing at the top and pitching dangerously forward !
I may come just to remember what this william character looks like!
if i can get myself out of bed i will join thee 7:30 BB side.  i wish i'd seen this thread earlier or i would have said 9 AM PLZ.

Oh Beautiful, For Spacious Thighs
For amber waves of pain...

I think I'm in for this too. Brendan, I'll bring your gift card! Folks, I'd love to lead you to the wilds of inner jersey. Some nice, fun climbs. But, if you don't have a GPS and you want to turn around early...you would kind of be on your own. My/JP's route takes about 4.5 hours bridge to bridge. I like to stop once on this ride for a giant coke...about 15 minutes of chilling.

PS William, are you and Tito, you Manhattan-ex-pats shacked up together or something? This fleeing to Brooklyn is a disturbing trend.
I'm in as well.
I'm in - see you at 7:30 BB. I have to be back in brooklyn by noon, so
will peel off at some point.
Fiddlesticks. I'll be rolling in Prosoect at an ungodly hour so that I can be home in time for my super-heroine wife to get to her office...

Those severed fingers ain't gonna sew themselves back on...
