to keep the forum tidy, please do a search to see if a thread already exists before creating a new one.

i did a search - there are four "Gran Fondo NY" threads.

david: you have started half of them.

i took the liberty to repost your message in the first "Gran Fondo" thread you started and delete your second "GF" thread

let's keep it tidy people - "search" button is your friend!

hall inspector out!
i never considered doing it in anyhting other than the orange and blue!! well, if we want to register as a team, i will check out the logistics on the sight.
David-I plan on doing it again. As I believe does Jorge and maybe David Stearns and others. One of the bummers of the GF however is that you MUST wear the Gran Fondo jersey (i.e., and not your team colors). Happy to ride it as a group though. I don't recall a team registration option but f there is one, please let us know.
i checked out the sight.....you register individually. on the registration page you enter your team name. all team names must be entered exactly the same - we will use Kissena Cycling CLub. the four top team member's times are used to determine the team's overall placing, and individuals on the team also qualify for prizes based on their own category (age). so , as many of us can register as a team as we want. no wonder every kit in the pictures is black. do i own a black bib???? hmmmm........
Thanks David. Makes sense.
i will try to get a definitive answer as to whether or not we can ride in team kit. will post as soon as i have an answer. i am registering this weekend.
ok. i heard back from the event organizers. team kits are not allowed. the reason given was that marshalls need to determine quickly, at a glance who is in the race and who is not. that said, we can wear our team kit during the awards ceremony when we win, and they will support our team with a pre-event story on facebook and their blog if we like. if we want to do that, i will get back to them to make a formal request. i have seen those jerseys, and they are nice.
p.s. in my e-mail, i did mention that we were a USAC team, and under normal circumstances, are required to race in team kit. did not make a difference. if it were a USAC race, i guess it would have.
@David. I realize it won't match, but, if everyone rocks the Kissena shorts...that's something.
i'll check it out.
I may do the non-competitive Medio version. I'm a little leary at that price though (even if it does include the jersey). Does anyone know if the registrations are transferable? I'd hate to be out the money if my schedule or fitness level precludes me from participating.
Nevermind. I RTFM (er, FAQ):

I can't start. Can I get a refund or do a transfer to another rider?

The entry fee is non refundable. However, you can transfer your spot to another person until April 15 for a $50 transfer fee.
I just registered for this. The proce goes up a bit november 1st.
Im regiesterd for this event
I am registered for the 2012 edition. Fees go up $15 on Jan 1.

(bump)

The price goes up $15 thursday morning.
I'm registered for this event.
we should try to coordinate a couple of training rides next month as a build up. maybe ride part of the way up and back.
New guy here. I'm registered as well though I've committed to riding with a friend from work. USAC riders will be able to start in a coral at the front rather than in the back, where I'll be. I'll wear my new Kissana bibs though. In order to start up front, one is supposed to enter your license number on the registration form.

I'm up for a training ride.
Better clean-up your pee-pee and hide the mini-fridge vials, boys. Gran Fondo NY is hunting for dopers!

Any kissena folks doing this? Im wearing our short a nd the obligatory GF jersey. Number 1188
I am and believe JP is too. I'll be wearing the KCC bibs too. Number 350 - I'll be starting towards the back with a friend. I'll keep an eye out for you.
Ill be there as well. Number 301 but Ill probably start further back. No kissena bibs for me because of color coordination concerns.
Kissena bibs - #417 - as well as KCC socks and gloves ! If it was colder I would rock the arm warmers too, but it going to be nice and toasty.

Neil - I have seen you in a sleevless jersey. Since when did color coordination become an issue ? ;)

I'll be with Sanossian and a buddy of his.
I'm #60.

I'll be in Kissena Shorts. Probably no gloves.

How do we register four of us as a team? Certainly can't hurt. don't see how to do it on the website. Need four guys.

for what it's worth.

Timed Climbs
first climb is .95 mile at 6.7% (gets steeper at end)
scond climb is 3.55 miles at 5.5% (gets steeper on perkins, then flattens a bit)
third climb is 2.5miles at a 5% grade
fourth climb is 1 mile at an 8% grade
JP solid idea for a team for next year.
We can do a team next year. Had a good time. Here's a pic of JP sprinting for the line
THanks Craig. That's me goofing around with Zach Koop. He pulled into the last rest stop, at mile 84, shortly after me, asked if I'd wait for him. I said sure. We rolled out together. Gavi Epstein, who was just riding around, dragged a pack up to us. We, unbeknownst to me, dropped Zach somewhere. As I was chatting away with Gavi, we started hammering up Stateline. Which caused me to be dropped from the group I had lead since West Nyack. Stupid me. Zach caught me on River Road and he was nice enough to ride in with me.

Funniest thing about the finish was I got a hug and a kiss upon finishing. So Italian. An acquaintance, an Italian journo based in New York, was shooting at the finish and recognized me before I her.

It wasn't the Fredpocalyse from my vantage point. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

I even zipped up and raised my arms for the line. I think I took him. ;)
Anyone doing the Gran Fondo NJ?  I believe there is a discount if we get more than 5 riders.
