Fondos, Fundos, Charity, Donut and other organized rides

100 Km sounds like the perfect distance, I have to figure out what my (non cycling) schedule allows, but obvs D2R2 is a legend, and I'd love to be there, specially with teammates and friends.
Riding to Montauk with a small group Saturday morning. I plan on following the trainingpeaks workout for the 4+ hr ride. PM me for details
if you're looking for a nice family ride that isn't Prospect Park. Westchester is closing the Bronx River Parkway for bikes on several Sundays. It is a rolling 13 mile round trip, and decent pavement, Not super crowded, but good for family riding. Probably less elevation gain than the equivalent number of laps of the park.

After the accident last week my out-of-town race funds are pretty depleted, so I'll have to drop out of this one. Have fun out there @Dan Reiners & @eloy !

Anyone interested in Harlem Valley Ride on Sunday? @RileyHoonan, may have an extra spot for you if you need a way up
Hey all, I'm participating in a charity ride through my company for CT Challenge an organization that provides therapy and recovery services for cancer survivors in Connecticut and general New England region.  Any donations would be greatly appreciated!

Did this ride this Saturday and not only was it super well organized and supported (and for a really good cause), but the route itself was fantastic.  The 75 mile route went through beautiful northern Connecticut hills for a total of 5k feet of climbing.  Even if I were in shape, it would have been a tough course.  Silly me forgot to recharge the Garmin, but here's the course profile from the organizers:

Also there's nothing like a charity ride to make you feel pretty good about your dismal racing shape.  Its a total ego boost to drop pretty much everyone on climbs, flats, even descending, you name it.  The downside is that you end up riding solo most of the time unless you want to go at a snails pace.

The ride announcers also instantly recognized the Kissena kit, made a joke about the "baby asprin pill orange" Poc helmet.

Oh also, after about 4 hours of riding solo, I finally caught up and started rotating with 2 other guys who frankly did the majority of pulling for the last 5 miles or so.  Turns out one of them is a bike shop owner up in Greenwich, CT and a very good masters racer.  Took podium at 2015 GMSR's 40+ crit among other honors.
David,

Some of those roads towards the north end were used in the old Housatonic Hills Road Race. Looks like you came down Constitution Hill which was at the very beginning of each lap (going up). That one is seared into my memory. Great riding up there.
Summer Streets is upon us!

I hope that you did not take my comment seriously.
Not a charity ride or for me, but my son is trying to raise funds for his ski racing club. Any donation, even $5 or $10, would be appreciated. Thanks
guess I should've posted a link:

Are you signed up?, i'd be interested
I will probably do Farmer's daughter.
I'm signed up.
I'm signing up
I'm signed up, now a month tire selection quandary
wahhhhh I'll be at a wedding.
@Mark Taylor I am signed up.

I am riding file treads on my CX bike. They were a little under treaded for some of the more gnarly single track last year because it had rained for the entire week before so there were sections that were slick mud. File treads are always going to be low traction for that, but for the miles of gravel roads they were perfect.

Signed up.
@Dan
Thinking of using challenge chicanes , you think they will work ?
I was planning on 35 Gravelkings but just found this on the website:

An all-purpose CX tire would be fine in most conditions, something along the lines of the Clement MXP, Kenda small block 8, or Michelin mud 2, for instance. You can ride the entire course with file treads; several of us have done it. You’ll be a bit more confident through any muddy or wet grass conditions, though,  if you have an all-purpose tire.  I’ve ridden the course with both, and didn’t feel that I gave up much (if any) speed by using my Mud 2s.

Probably makes sense to make the final determination based on the weather the week prior.
awesome.

I doubt that anything bigger than a 32 is required. Wondering if worth running tubulars.

Depends on how gnarly the descents are. Clinchers are way more likely to flat, but easy to fix. If I flat the tub, that's the end of the ride.

If I had to bet, I'd bet chicanes are perfect.
The descents are not too gnarly. Mostly the gnarly bits are climbing and a long jeep trail that is mostly flat standing water last year. I think the key is to have the right gearing for some steep climbs on gravel roads and jeep trails so they require you to stay seated, in order to maintain grip.

Last year I ran higher pressure than I would in a CX race because it was more road than trail and 40/42psi front/rear was not too high for this.
k. thanks, think I'll use some challenge chicane clinchers for this, and probably pump them a little bit more.

Gearing is likely to be 40/12-30.

I just signed up for this fondo since it's a century with 7000 feet of elevation as a prep for my favorite race event in mid July. I can bring one more person if anybody is interested.
