No magic to it - just sew it up; a regular tailor can do it for a few bucks.

JP - you're right in saying it needs material - it probably lost an inch in the burn. I'll try some local tailors - my wife took it to a guy close to us who didn't think he could do a good job on it for a reasonable price, which seems strange to me. Seems like it's fixable, especially if I bring in an old bib they can steal material from.

Heck, you could take the radio pocket off and use that material as a patch. If you don't really care how bad it looks you could probably sew that back together yourself, but since your bibs always go under a jersey nobody would see the patch job but yourself.

I have worn this skinsuit exactly once on my trainer indoors. Words cannot express the disappointment I feel right now.  I refuse to pay a premium for Champsys products going forward. They are a fucking joke and so is this club for continuing to do business with them.  Honestly it's shame on me for believing that their product would improve. I've had it. As soon as I can get my hands on other kit I will wear it. Buyer beware: the stuff is crap. Consider this a public service announcement.

Anyone have any tips for cleaning cycling shoes? I've left mine out to dry stuffed with newspaper after several wet rides and there's a faint moldy smell coming on (lovely). I've read online to put them on the top rack of the dishwasher, others say to use regular soap and water. Can anyone confirm one way or another? 

I would skip the dishwasher. putting your cycling shoes in your dishwasher will likely incur the wrath of your significant other.

You could either try a solution of vinegar and water to help kill some of the bacteria, or another option would be spray something like this into the shoes, which uses science to get rid of the smell.

A cheap way is using Lysol which helps control mold/mildew/bacteria that are the causes of the funk.  High heat and UV rays (direct sunlight) will also probably help.

There is also stuff for car A/C systems that foam up and kill mildew/mold that forms due to condensation not evaporating fully (cough VW A5 platform cough).  It's basically a variation on what Lysol does except in foam form.  I'm assuming it's probably pretty potent, but probably a good idea to read the warning stuff in case it's toxic with skin contact (thought you do wear socks right? you animals).

BTW this is the stuff I use.  German air cleaner for my poorly engineered German car's a/c system.

i just hand wash them whenever the stank is approaching nuclear levels... tub of water with laundry soap mixed in it (or oxiclean).  if the insoles are removable, take them out and wash them too because they are full of stink.  just dont do it in a plastic container because the grease from your cleats will be hard to get off.  i've used the bathroom sink...if you scrub the sink down with something like this the grease comes off the ceramic in my experience, or if you just mix dishwashing soap and oil you can get most grease off (works for hands, haven't stooped that low for sinks)

a spritz of febreeze after each ride or as often as you remember also works...also, i leave my shoes with the tongues and latches all open to assist drying

So what I did not notice at first after crashing at Orchard Beach was I somehow ripped out the heel tread, all the threads, and tore up the carbon around it. Needed new treads anyhow, but I think I'm going to have to glue/ epoxy the one in that was torn out. Any recommendations on what to use?

    The Heel treads on Specialized shoes are replaceable.  Check the site.  If not on the site, call Specialized.  

    For the carbon, clear nail polish might clean it up a bit.

I'd say about 90% of it is Kissena, but the previous design.
