serious demerits for the use of "robust" but it's one of the few current Rapha pieces I dig. I kinda like the new long sleeve brevet jersey/vest combo and pink socks. Good to see the introduction of more orange, but I don't really need anymore crap. Maybe the pink socks....

Depends on what kind of rain riding you want this jacket to help you with. If it's commuting around town or other low-energy rolling, I like my recently procured Showers Pass Elite Pro jacket. Perhaps I like it cause I got it for 75 bucks ($230 retail), but it's been working nicely on my morning commutes. I haven't tried stuffing it in a jersey pocket yet, but it would probably fit.David Yang said:So...rain jackets...who's got a good one to recommend?
If you want a rain jacket for hard riding, I recommend going with a Gabba jersey, short-sleeve. You're going to get wet, but that's inevitable on a hard ride --any season. Sweating overcomes all but the most breathable non-rain jackets, so even high-end rain gear is going to be hot and give you steamy situation inside the jacket. Gabba gets wet but doesn't really feel steamy/tacky (perhaps cause I got the short-sleeve model and arm steaminess probably bothers me more than anything) and Gabba is warm.
Of course, this really suggests that the packable rain jacket may be the way to go for hard riding days. I'ev never used one cause I'm riding hard and don't have time to fiddle with changing clothes on the bike. But, since I've adopted a more kicked-back attitude toward riding and training, I may try this... I'll try stuffing the Showers Pass Elite into a pocket on my next rain ride day and report back here. I love the rain, so I suspect I'll just prefer my traditional approach of going without a rain jacket, but maybe I'll switch up.
I will note that I don't recommend Rapha's standard rain jacket. I'm sure their newer pro rain jacket and/or the race cape are better, but the regular rain jacket is only useful for feeling snazzy at the cafe.
Oh, and goes without saying --be sure to try the jacket on before buying. Little details make a big difference... collar height and feel; sleeve length; zipper function; pocketry; tail-coverage, etc. Fits vary widely. Mavic, for instance, seems to opt for a cut that's too big in the chest for me, whereas that Rapha jacket I have fits wonderfully snug and has wonderfully long sleeves with a nice neoprene cuff (yet the sleeves are too baggy and make me feel all the soggier once I'm in a good pour).

p.s. study the water column / breathe-ability charts. Be prepared to part with much cash, as the prices go up with functionality, as usual. But, there are good deals on previous year models and all... and --I don't know-- maybe CS has a reasonably good option?

I don't mean to sway folks from riding in their team kits, but this jersey sure looks swell in its classic Kissena colors... it's even got a little crown mark on the chest, signifying Kings County no doubt.

p.s. on the Showers Pass Elite Pro jacket... after doing more rides in chilly wet weather, I'm actually quite impressed with this jacket. It must be breathing quite well (or my warrior-diet body is just getting super-efficient with thermal management) cause I can climb hard in 50 degree temps and not feel like peeling off the jacket. And that's dressed with a short-sleeve baselayer, Gabba short-sleeve jersey, roubaix arm warmers then the jacket.
However, it's a good thing I'm not finding it necessary to remove the jacket mid-ride --the zipper requires some force and concentration to operate.
Fit is pretty snug, zipper warps/waves a little bit but not too much, sleeves are lengthy with velcro-adjustable snug-ups.
Definitely repels the water wonderfully well... and I'm expecting that the construction of the eVent fabric will retain its water-proofiness for quite a long time.

So as many of you might know, I love my scarf. and why not? its warm and stylish. Also if it has your favorite teams logo on it such idk KISSENA written on it then you get to wave it at people like this hooligan. check out these guys, it looks like there is a min of 75 pcs for custom orders. who wants to get some?

We have Anti-Anti manage our clothing accessories; which also means logos and branding. If you can rustle up 75 people, then get the names (and the dough) and we'll make it happen.
Look for some badass hoodie action in the new year too; incentive to renew your membership if you haven't already

So this year, I bought a new long-sleeve fleece lined jersey. I race in them almost exclusively when the temps got cold in cross this year. In general I'm a fan of the fleece lined goods from Champ Sys. But as I was folding them both to put in my race bag this weekend, I noticed that they changed some things for, what I assume, are cost-saving reasons.
1. Last year's model has reflective piping around the edges of the pockets. This year, none. I don't necessarily need this detail, but it did add a nice touch of swank to the older model jersey.
2. Last year's model has a robust band of elastic around the bottom of the jersey (similar to the band that is around the pro thermal jacket), this year's has none. I DO miss this feature. The older jersey just fits better...the new around the bottom, is just a bit floppy.
3. Finally, and I can't "prove" or quantify this in a real way, but the first time I put on the new jersey, my honest-to-god initial reaction was that it felt "thinner" and less substantial. Subsequent "pinch" "touch" tests have revealed inconclusive results.
Still, even with my quibbles, these jersey's with varying styles of base-layers are in general a great cold weather racing option for those of us who can't/shouldn't subject our friends and family to the sight of us in skinsuits (fleece lined or otherwise).

Another random thought:
I'm not sure how I feel about this, as I tend to love the clean white look of our kit, but I do wonder sometimes, usually when I'm at the bike wash station immediately post race spraying the shit out of my jersey in efforts to keep 'em clean, if it's possible/practical to modify the current design, to have a second "crap weather/conditions" kit.
I realize that the mere suggestion of this will cause Jules to start designing an undetectable poison to drop in my food at the party.

Far cheaper than a dirt-wear kit is an eight dollar bottle of this stuff. It works like magic:
@Gwynna: elastic waists are one of the differences between mens & women's cut kits. I'm really pleased that we now offer both so that you can choose which you prefer. Women's kits generally don't have the waist elastic.
