I think I saw that Richard Kaufmann was trying those magnets to keep numbers on.  They always looked problematic to me.

Another method that is non-pin is something called Bib Boards.  I haven't tried them yet, and I wonder if they wear out clothes in other ways.

I always found the pinning ritual very calming; it helped me get into race mode.

I just wish someone made a jersey with marked spots to pin a number and have it nice and flat...  Maybe something for our next team kit????

I'm looking at getting a wind vest for this next kit order.  I wear a large in the race cut jerseys, but those are on the edge of being too tight.  Would it be wise to size up with a race cut vest, or stick to my normal size L?

I'd suggest you stick to the same size. You don't want a flappy vest.

Oddly enough, I'm a M in their club cut.  My main concern over the sizing is if the vest is cut so that you can comfortably wear a jersey with/without a a base layer underneath it.

Generally speaking, whatever size fits well as a jersey should fit similarly (but perhaps with a little less stretch) in a vest

Does anyone have any opinions on the different models of CS skinsuits? I’ve got an old summer model but it’s not going to last much longer than this season. I like that it has a front zip and back pockets, but am I missing out on the other models?

I don't think so.  To me, unless you're specializing in time trials, all your skin suits should have pockets.  

so, yes to the Apex summer skin suit for summer racing--which, to me, kind of starts in May these days, and if you do CX, extends to the end of October, and the Performance skin suit for everything else.

W/ Pockets, and Panel zippers, so the front fully opens is ever needed. Now that we keep the numbers in Prospect Park and FBF is what I race on anywhere.

I don't think you are asking for cx, but in any case I would suggest to avoid the cyclocross specific one, unless you are racing in Alaska, and even then you are probably ok in the normal. Global warming took care of that. 

To add to Eloy’s note: there are two different CX skinsuits. One is great for early morning races in Massachusetts in November when the temps are in the high 20s - low 30s (I’m talking about you NoHo!). The other is lighter weight and works well in below 50 weather

Yes, you're looking at a pair of DeFeet Wool-E-Ator socks that are about to die.

However, the reason for sharing them here is not only the Kissena colors and logo, but the fact that these might be around 18 years old.  That seems like a long life for a pair of socks--though I do have another such pair and maybe two of the original Kissena Air-E-Ators we had made back then. Kudos to DeFeet for designing durability into their products.  

Socks can die from a myriad of causes.  As I'm not a person who walks in socks, I might get them to go a bit longer.  Eloy suggests I might actually be able to repair these.    

So, I sang the praises of these two years ago.


They're finally ripping.

Not the most durable, and they do need to be treated with some care.  But, when they're needed, they are pretty amazing.  As mentioned, I bought these in April, 2021.  So they've been around for two years.  

They retail for $20 + 2.99 shipping.  I guess I paid less than $1 a use.  Not ideal, but I think, on the balance, worth it.
