Thanks! Garrigan gave me a pair of POC gloves once and they won the prize for the worst made piece of kit I've ever owned. Came apart after 1 wearing.

Just here to point out that Champ Sys (and Le Col) make Kissena gloves. 

I know! All my KCC gloves are worn beyond respectability.

I hope Lidl is happy with the jersey design.  To me, it looks like they just plopped the Lidl logo on the chest.

There was Lidl else they could do with it...

Runyon is a well known brand in the outdoorsy world. But I must be missing something when it comes to these, they look like um -- not well thought out -- regular 90s jerseys. They might have a market and their place, but are a pass for me.

I want to give a little praise to Champ-Sys for their summer Apex skinsuit

I don't get their naming conventions nor why they have two such designs.  But this one seems the better, at least for me.  This is the one that has the separating front panel.  

It's a different panel design than the Performance Skinsuit.  I don't know why.  But I prefer the fit of the Apex to the Performance.  

The set-in sleeves and short shoulders seem to minimize bunching in front.  The legs have a generous amount of mesh; seems like more than half of each leg is mesh.  The panel design not only seems to fit better in the shoulders but also results in slightly larger pockets than the Performance version.

the one place where the suit disappoints is that the side panels, which are supposed to be mesh, are not on mine.  Perhaps I should have warrantied it when I got it last summer--I was recovering from my separated shoulder so wasn't going to race it until this year anyway--but I didn't. This is a typical champ-sys brain fart; they do seem to make good when called on such things. 

Considering we should be racing in skinsuits whenever possible, and global warming is extending summer and making summer hotter, this one should get decent use.  I like it for anytime it's 70f and warmer.  

Champion has 3 tiers, their top tier is Apex, middle tier is Performance, and their lower/budget tier is Tech. 

There is clear price jump for each, but it would make sense that almost anything Apex is a bit better than Performance, and in turn anything Performance better than Tech. 

Personal preference and I suppose application will matter here. In my experience, for example, Tech tends to outlast the other two and survives abuse a bit better (so could be a good choice for training, off road, rainy days etc) Fit is slightly different too, of course. For example, I found tech to be less stretchy or forgiving.

What's striking is that they have non-pocket Apex skinsuits with the same basic panel design as the Performance skinsuit.  And the Performance skinsuit and Apex summer suit I have are nominally the same price.  

The Apex sleeves are slightly different, and they use more high end Apex fabrics on most panels. I am not 100% sure, but I think there is a "speedsuit" and a "skinsuit" option both offer a summer meshy version, at least the "skinsuit" version offers pockets. 

So, more advetures with Champ-Sys.

I have an Apex summer jersey that's got ot be at least three or four years old.  Mesh chest and side panels, thin spandex for the sleeves and AirLite fabric on the back.  The Champ-Sys zipper pull broke off; don't know how, probably in the wash.  



My usual solution is to thread thin rope or a ribbon of some sort, or for heavier garments, a gear zipper pull sourced from REI or Campmor.  All the same, I thought those would look kind of ugly and large and floppy and I was curious if Champ-Sys had a replacement zipper pull.  That's all I was looking for.

I sent them the above pic as well as a pic of the entire chest, so they could see which design/model it was.



I wrote them on August 8.  They came back offering to warranty the jersey.  I told them a zipper pull would be fine; they said they cold do the warranty.  Hard to turn that down.  And if it is the updated Apex summer jersey where that chest mesh is on the arms and back, all the better.  They coordinated with Dave Yang on which design to use.  

It arrived today. It's the new Apex summer jersey. Looking forward to a hot day to test it out.  Will need to sunscreen my back first.  

So yesterday in the middle of my ride, I was on a bit of rough road and getting bounced around, then my helmet (Laser G1 Mips) got very loose and the retention screw isn't holding any tension anymore. I put in a warranty claim to get a replacement, but since I haven't been a big fan the helmet to begin with and am thinking of moving onto a new helmet.

Anyone have any suggestions for a lid they like? My only real requirements are that it have mips/some equivalent technology and sunnies are somewhat stable on the helmet. I'm leaning towards the POC Ventral since it comes in orange, has Spin/Mips (I know Spin is POC's proprietary version of Mips but I need to look into the difference more) and seems to be well liked.

I like my POC.  I've got the Octal.  The only downside is that I tend to get sunburnt/tanned through the front vent holes.  You can imagine how that looks after a long, sunny ride.

I ended up pulling the trigger on the Ventral Spin and did my first ride with it this morning. Glasses stay put, the spin concept feels just like mips and the retention system is great. So far, it's checking all the boxes and I'm a fan

Do we have an ETA on the Le Col stuff?

8-10 wks out from store close which was first week of Aug, so we're looking at early/mid Oct.

Hi, just to report that my Champion System order arrived today. It all looks pretty great, super high quality, always impressed by how much Champion has improved over the years.
