Kayt and Gwynna,
I'll likely be warming up during your race, so I won't necessarily be around to yell obnoxiously from the sidelines. So, a few words of advice now.
Gwynna, the start is like a cross race, or that's how you should treat it. I know you are expecting to be dropped, but if you start on the front line and go crazy, you'll last longer.
Kayt, this open race is going to be among your tougher challenges this year. But that doesn't mean you won't rock it. Stay up front, avoid bad splits (likely to happen as there is going to be a wide range of riders here), and stay tucked into the draft of the 1s and 2s. But don't be afraid to go with moves that look promising though. Stan's No Tubes is going to want to control the race. Let them control the field, while you're up in a break with a couple of them!
Don't over-inflate those tires, you want to stick to the pavement, not get bounced around. Success at this race is as much about going fast around corners as it is straight line speed/strength. Be crafty if you have to. Ride smarter, than hard and have fun. WARM UP WARM UP WARM UP. And don't forget to warm up. I'll be cheering for you in my mind with pom poms!
