Kayt and Gwynna,

I'll likely be warming up during your race, so I won't necessarily be around to yell obnoxiously from the sidelines. So, a few words of advice now.

Gwynna, the start is like a cross race, or that's how you should treat it. I know you are expecting to be dropped, but if you start on the front line and go crazy, you'll last longer.

Kayt, this open race is going to be among your tougher challenges this year. But that doesn't mean you won't rock it. Stay up front, avoid bad splits (likely to happen as there is going to be a wide range of riders here), and stay tucked into the draft of the 1s and 2s. But don't be afraid to go with moves that look promising though. Stan's No Tubes is going to want to control the race. Let them control the field, while you're up in a break with a couple of them!

Don't over-inflate those tires, you want to stick to the pavement, not get bounced around. Success at this race is as much about going fast around corners as it is straight line speed/strength. Be crafty if you have to. Ride smarter, than hard and have fun. WARM UP WARM UP WARM UP. And don't forget to warm up. I'll be cheering for you in my mind with pom poms!

Best place for spectating? Might swing by on my way back from GWB. Don't know if I could stay all the way through the women's, but will see.

Short course, walk backwards. Hang out on a couple of corners.

Remember, my top secret warm up loop. Head south down the main boulevard from the race and hit up Harlem Hill a couple of times!
Are there any ladies (or Dale) riding tomorrow morning in PP? Wanna?
I'm still in Princeton tomorrow, sadly. Would love to zip up to Nyack or
elsewhere far on Saturday if anyone is game !

Hey @Lindsay, I'll be out in the am doing openers, might not be til 6:30 though.
I'm was planning on coming out in the morning.  Hopefully we can get a few people out and do a few laps together.  Ride starts @ 6, Kayt!

I made a late appearance but could only find Thierry and some bearded madman in KCC kit, mumbling about the sky, circles, and an uphill time trial.

Oh and ELOY aka "The Hotness"
OK I know that I shouldn't hound you guys for the race report since I haven't even told you how amazing Ride the Rockies was, but how did it go?

As for me, I LOVE HILLS. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE HILLS.
I had such a good time. My legs feel super strong. I didn't go particularly fast, but it was a really good pace for me to get through all 400 miles. I missed one day due to a nasty barfy bug but did the fifth 82 mile 5,000 ft of climbing day all on Saltines. Saltines. Are. Magic.

That's it for now. Still going through pictures. Hope to see you all soon!

Hey Gwynna,

Yes we have the single serving packets of hydration and water bottles. Getting them to you might be tricky...
Of potential interest:

Screening of Half the Road this Friday (4pm), which focuses on women's professional cycling:

Sorry Daniella, my post was misleading.  I can't actually attend unfortunately.  I'm heading out of town for the weekend starting Friday afternoon.  I'm hoping this doc will be screened again sometime so maybe I can catch it.  Still, if you or anyone else is free you should check it out!  @Annamaria, you will be checking out the BFF offerings I believe?
Ladies, this is an unbelievable (so to speak) interview with one of the great American bike racers.

Hello, hello! Anyone up for some laps tomorrow morning at 6:00 am? (thanks for the time reminder, @Dale ;) )

Also: for those of you in town on Sunday, there's a great Central Park race with a Women's field. Reg here: https://www.bikereg.com/crca-lou-maltese-memorial-2014 There are some very strong riders registered, but strong riders usually mean more experienced (read: safer) riders!
Sorry, I promised a friend a 7:00 meetup (joiners welcome)! Hope to see you soon though! (Like on the bike and not jogging past you all disheveled).
Sorry Kayt, I can't make it out tomorrow morning.  Nice to see you and Erika briefly this morning.  I will see you on Sunday.
I'll be marshaling at the CP race on sunday if y'all are racing!
Speaking of marshaling, the L&C and R&A races need marshal captains and registration helpers. If you marshal or help with registration you will get to race for free. One suggested possibility is to marshal for an L&C race (which has no women's field) and then take your free race in the R&A series. It just so happens that we need a marshal for this Saturday's L&C race...

Freelance riding...is that like riding with no benefits?

On a serious note, when I'm back from my racing adventures here in Wisconsin. I'll be looking into organizing and leading another long slow group ride, wormhole-style into New Jersey. Stay tuned for more info. And if you haven't already, "star" the mentor thread as that's were I tend to post my organized events.
Anybody doing the Rapha Women's 100 ride? Sunday July 20th.

Sadly my bike season is mostly over as marathon training takes precedence, but I've done a couple Rapha rides and might still join the 100 to show support (it's km, not miles, so if you're doing Piermont rides you should be fine).  Three cheers for #babesinbibs
I'm planning on doing the Rapha 100. I've got a new pink Pantani jersey
that conveniently matches my bike for the event!

That's great Lindsay! I met @Erika on last year's ride. Get ready for a long day on the road.

Speaking of jerseys, guess who will be sporting the Cat 4 leader's jersey at the next R&A race? Turns out the lass who beat me by a half wheel last month had upgraded to a Cat 3... so yeah, this gal.

Heeeellllp.
