@JP, a belated thank you for posting the party invite from WE Bike! Those ladies are doing good work, especially on the education front. I'll plan to go if any other Kissenas (ladies and gents) want to join.
Important lady business to attend to:

Item #1. Look at @Lisa being all rad. Awesome profile! Awesomer lady!

Item #2. Everyone should go to the WE Bikes events! And I'm super jealous b/c I'll be out of town.

Item #3. Friday morning paceline, anyone? Perfect opportunity to see if fun sized candy works as well as gels.
O.M.G. I *JUST* discovered that there was a Ladies specific thread.

I was scouring the other PP morning rides link, the PP other times link, etc.. I am really crappy at this forum. But I am training. Logging in at least once a day. Trying to figure out where I can find information about rides I can make. Hydrating. Whatever. I read the "how to race" booklet. Found some typos, learned a lot. But yeah, I want to ride with you women!

Anyhow -- if the Friday 6am IS a regular women's ride I will see you women on Friday. I can't ride Saturday because I have ultimate that day but I'll ride Sunday AM if it's not raining (I don't have fenders or rain gear yet).

AND I am also down for 7am, 8am, 4pm, 5pm whatever rides any other time. I'm leaving town November 13 for the rest of the month so I'm hoping to get in at least a few more Kissena rides before I leave!

LOLz @Meredith. Welcome to the ladies thread! Friday at 6am is, indeed, a regular women's ride. Please join us! We've been practicing paceline and handling skills these past couple of Fridays, but there was chatter this morning about maybe focussing on the hill tomorrow — trying a few climbing techniques and doing repeats. I'd like to call it our KCC Ladies' Hilloween Party :)
Love that, @Erika: KCC Ladies' Hilloween Party! A sequel to Bruce's harrowing account of this morning's ride.

@Jessica had the good idea of doing some hill work tomorrow, and I think it would be great do a couple of warm-up paceline laps to "review" some of the helpful tips we've been learning thanks to our cast of Friday mentors. With the incredibly strong @Erika (the undoubted QOM on the women's team) promising to be there tomorrow, I think we'll be in good hands where hill technique is concerned.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, 6 AM, at GAP.

Have you done hill repeats w/ KCC @Kayt? I'd actually be curious to know the best post-hill route for them. I assume the route will depend on whether we're doing them as intervals. (Not that we'll be doing intervals tomorrow!) Do most people peal off at GAP and take Flatbush down to the entrance just north of Ocean Ave? Seems like too much rest for intervals. Is there a sneaker, interior path in the park to get back to the base of the hill faster? I'll cross-post this in the PP training thread...

Ladies, I think JP's talk is coming just a week or two too late :)

There are (roughly) five different intensities to train (below) and it's important to both get the most out of each and to understand what they are for.

The "Col du Prospect" is a little short for VO2 Max and a little long for sprints.  Depending on how many of you show up it would be a great spot to practice a leadout and sprint for the KOM.  You'll need a full lap for recovery if you start the leadout by the start/finish line.

The zones:

Sprinting
VO2 Max
Threshold
Endurance
Recovery
A note on Zones: there are more names for them than I can keep track of - I did a comparison a while back - sadly I can't figure out how to link to a specific post.

Ladies (and germs),

Basic training talk information referred to by Jules above can be found below.

Thank you @JP and @Jules! Very useful indeed.

@Erika, we can take the road that cuts through the center of the park mid-downhill and puts us at the bottom of le Col du Prospect. That'll allow for some recovery time and means we can still have a scenic, autumn foliage-filled ride in between efforts.

Since it might rain tomorrow, just a friendly reminder that everyone should come prepared with fenders-- race blade ones, not the glorified mud flap. If you don't have a set, I highly recommend the reasonable investment ($60-ish) since you'll probably need them at some point (for when the ground is wet, when it's lightly drizzling, etc.) I went out and bought a second pair recently so I can bring the extra set for anyone who needs them. Text me to let me know: 503-351-6572.

Looking forward to tomorrow, rain or shine!

@Kayt that sounds lovely. We can assess the conditions and take a group poll before we roll out.

Looks like fenders will be a necessity in the morning. I bought my race blades a few weeks ago ($50-60) and they go on in a literal and figurative snap. If anyone is installing their tonight, remember to use the decals provided with the kit, or wrap the area on your stays where the blades connect w/ electrical tape. Otherwise, as @Jules learned the hard way, they can damage your clear coat very quickly!
Weather call for tomorrow?

@Jessica I'll be there rain or shine.
As you noticed I was not there -- I did get my fenders on but I have no idea what to wear in the rain. Going to pick up my kit at Ride Brooklyn now and will see if I can get some basics.

I'm volunteering!!!
@Gwynna, I'm signed up to race & volunteer on both days! Are you doing any races between now & then?

@Gwynna I'm on vacation/off week right now (why the hell am I checking this forum?!) but when I'm back and the cx bike is complete (11/13-11/14?) I'd love to try and get a practice in. Was planning to do Chesire that following Saturday to get my suck out for Supercross. Maybe we can plan for that Sunday and I can tell you all the bonehead things I did the day before.

No specific drills planned for tomorrow, but I'll be out bright and early (love this end of Dalight Savings business) if anyone wants company while riding bikes in circles. @Dale has kindly offered to lead next week's ride, so we have that to look forward to!
posted doodle poll on the Basic Training Talk thread.  Check it out.
Having trouble finding the sign up for computrainer sessions at ride brooklyn. What's the deal?
The last page of this thread has the details:

How many takers for tomorrow's ride guided by @Dale? It's slated to be a beautiful, slightly less brisk morning tomorrow. Just want to make sure there's interest before asking him to set that early morning alarm :)
I'll have to see what my bike situation is before I RSVP. I'm taking apart my road bike tonight to switch groups with my CX bike, so I'll only have my wife's oversized 2004 Trek 1000 (which I thought was a 9 speed, but is apparently an 8 speed... but don't worry, the triple crank will help me dial in just the right gear ratio!) The big question is foot retention. I should know by later tonight whether I can swap her flats for my Looks. @Kayt, was there any discussion about tomorrow's potential lesson plan? Because if we're doing social laps and bottle tricks, then I'm good to go!
Good luck with the bike work tonight, @Erika! @Dale mentioned race strategy and handling--he's definitely got something in mind, but the question is whether we should take him up on his generous offer to mentor this Friday or the next. By the way, I would wager you'd still school all of us on that hill, flat pedals or not.
