This sorta stuff is expected on a beta. Did get a very quick reply back from Zwift, explaining that they had troubles this morning. It should all be ok now.
---- my motivation to spin up a windows instance for this is zero. but if I was I would suggest virtualBox.
cheers!!
As mentioned before, whatever the reason, ANT+ or bluetooth, Windows or Mac, you have to start somewhere.
Judging from the bug this morning, it would seem that they have built a platform the proper way, where most of it is happening on their servers -- and the user interface on windows or OSX or iOS or android or whatever, simply reaches out to the same API.
Unfortunately, this morning they made a change to that API that broke the OSX experience.
But, um, I'm just speculating.
We can ask Charlie next time we see him.

Mac sales are growing, but there's a long way to go. Different story for iOS and Android though. It seems like airplaying from an iOS app is probably better than messing with OSX, but they're close.
Hopefully they'll sort it out and introduce Bluetooth pairing soon.
I watched Omloop over Zwift and had no real problem with audio, I'm connected to my TV via HDMI, which perhaps is different than your system.
Right now there's not a whole lot of control on Zwift Mac, it is either ride or stopped and that's basically it. A mature non beta version should allow for many more options, different views, and obviously to adjust volume and mute/allow certain sounds.
It's a platform. I bet endgame for them is for Strava, Garmin, or even TP to buy them and fold them into their service.
Subscription is a mistake IMO because of seasonal use, which translates hemispherically (i.e. no use in June in NYC, heavy use in June in Buenos Aires) and introduces seasonal latency concerns.
I say Strava buys them.

I'd be up for a virtual team ride for sure.
I rode it again this morning - hopped on at 5:45am and there were folks from all over the world; about 70 riders at that time of day. Last night (about 7:00pm) there were about 100, mostly from the US.

I'm hoping they arrange it so you can suspend your account during non-trainer months. I would hesitate to be locked into a monthly payment during the summer.
This month we'll be ending our Beta period and moving to a monthly subscription model. How much will it cost? We’ll announce all the details soon, but what we can say is that it will run you less than a few lattes a month. And we love coffee.
To recognize all who participated in the Beta, you’ll receive an exclusive founding member virtual kit, so when you’re out riding in Watopia people will know you were there from the start.
Along with the subscription, we plan to introduce the beta version of our long awaited workout mode. We’ll also be announcing a cool partnership with the largest independent social network for athletes and a host of other exciting news.
Our #zwiftstory is just beginning and we’re excited you’re along for the journey. Together we’re changing the way people look at indoor cycling. It’s something we like to call the #zwifteffect.
Stay tuned, spread the word #GoZwift and Ride On.

Not quite what Vlad predicted, but I mean, who else could it be but Strava?...jim_nelson said:Here's what the email said:...We’ll also be announcing a cool partnership with the largest independent social network for athletes and a host of other exciting news....
Thanks for the heads up John, but I'm on Android.

Just wanted to give you a heads up that next Saturday, October 10th, is the inaugural Jensie Gran Fondo of Marin, California.
Since Jensie loves Zwifting, he decided to sneak in some last minute training on the Richmond Course this Sunday, October 4th at 09:00 PDT / 12:00 EDT / 17:00 BST / 18:00 CET. He will lead a one hour group ride (no racing - he's retired) from his basement in Berlin. He likes to talk so we’re giving him a live audio feed to discuss his upcoming Gran Fondo, retirement and answer as many questions as possible you message him through Zwift Mobile Link.
Ground rules:
1) Log in early! We recommend 20 minutes before the start
2) Hit "p" on your keyboard to unlock the Jensie Gran Fondo kit with the code "JENSIE"
3) When prompted, click on "Join" to start the live audio feed
