He sure does.
@Matt Budofsky I’m still debating if I am racing.

If you volunteer, you get to race for free. If you already paid registration or are not racing Sunday, but volunteer, then you can race for free in a future race.
@eloy if you say pretty please, then maybe I’ll do it 🤪. With all kidding aside, I have been away on business all week and may have too many responsibilities to take care of this weekend.
Volunteered for reg. Anyone interested in some laps after the races or something like that?
Yea want to chat up some prospects w me?
I’m running a Redbeard ride at 0845 if you want to jump in...
Looks like a pretty full field for me, John Powell, and Eloy.

Brands is huge.  I expect they're going to ride for Stephan Dioslaki for the KoM and Ragot for the green.  Not sure who they're going to pick for the overall.

Dave Jordan is likewise big.  I expect they're riding for Lynn Murray for the green and Jose Guzman for the overall.  Doesn't look like they have a KoM rider, but maybe Tony Taylor will be that person.

Mineola has numbers, but they're probably all in for Louisgie Shoy.  I don't know if he's going for intermediate jerseys and the overall.  I expect the overall.

Axis has a dedicated group of four.  I expect they're riding for Paul Carbonara to get the KoM jersey.

Montclair has five.  I expect they're in for Juan-Carlos Pineda.  Don;t know where his fitness is.  If it's good, he can go with a break.  if not he usually has enough to sprint well.

Weather Channel has three.  It's a safe bet John Loehner will try to get away.  Don't know if he cares about chasing a jersey or not.  John is super strong, but everyone knows it, I hope.

I'd like to see how my legs are with some early attacks.  Not sure if I can contest the field sprint, but my fitness is going the right way.

you guys?

And what about Konditori after?  Dub was too small.

I feel a lot better now than I did this time last year, although my legs aren’t quite there. I can definitely put in a couple of attacks, but I don’t have the power yet to stay away for long.
I'll be there to leadout John for the win.
quick report:
  • JP looked like fire, always riding in the top 20ish
  • Eventually, I think, with 5 or 4 laps to go a break goes and stays away
  • ouch, not again
  • Powell, JP, and myself, have different go at the front trying to see if we can chase it back
  • under 2 to go JP gave a go, what a huge push!
  • I never see it, but on the last lap, apparently, the pack brings it back with a huge awesome 50km/h pull from the brands dudes
  • Sprint, Sprint, Sprint.
  • JP 33, Me 40, Powell 70ish
  • We then did a few laps with the redbeard peeps
  • Thanks to everyone that volunteered, it made a huge difference!

I think it was six to go that the break went.

I was frustrated because I was there when it happened.  We were going pretty hard up the hill, there were three guys dangling, and then John Loehner (Weather Channel), Stephan Dioslaki (Brands) and one other guy kicked to get up there.  I could hold the high tempo no problem, but the kick I didn't have.  Just three seconds more would have probably been enough for me to get on the move.

With three to go, I could see the break up the road.  I asked Loehner's teammate if John had dumped his companions yet--his response: "I hope not."  I even put in a long pull on the flats to keep the field rolling, figuring I'd have time to rest on the hill.  Yes, with two to go, I tried to get away again, thinking I could cross or bring a few guys across.  I think it was from the finish line to the bottom of the hill or a bit beyond.  Failed.

On the last lap, five or six Brands riders went to the front to reel in the break.  I had no trouble slotting in a few guys behind their train.  We caught the soloing Loehner at the foot of the hill.  I was in decent position, behind Chris Loehner (John's brother) of Brands and Wilson Vasquez.  It wasn't awesome position, but Wilson was elbowing Chris to move him out of the way (Wilson is kind of big, but Chris is a house).  Didn't work, though Chris did shift left, scaring WC's Molloy.  As before, I couldn't accelerate over the top.  Wilson, btw, was 13th, Chris 81st.

More racing, more attacking, more fire.

to be continued...
The Cat 5 field was uneventful, but a lot of fun. Both @Matt Budofsky and I were in the front pack most of the race and a couple of new Kissena members looked pretty sharp (sorry, I am bad with names). I think one of the new members finished 6th, while I finished 15th and Matt finished a bit behind me.
For my first park race (2nd race ever) it was a really good learning experience. I went a bit too hard on the second lap on the hill trying to stay at towards the very front when I could have conserved a bit of energy and was trying to chase down small attacks when I didn’t need to. So, when it came to the last time up the hill I didn’t have the legs and rolled in about 20 seconds down. Overall I’m going to take this race and keep building and learning- looking forward to the next one!
Shots from today’s racing.
And a few more...
We gotta get Eloy to smile next time
Isn't there a Castelli race this Sunday?

Looks like Eloy is signed up for the old man race.

Admittedly, I'm on the fence.  My daughter is having a blowout slumber party the night before and I need to figure out the importance of my presence.
Hey all. If you have a volunteer credit and want to race, email Charlie to have him sign you up. charlesissendorf@gmail.com

We also need registration volunteers. Go sign up here:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1h68kb_QnO2NSAaAd2gradwBk12Q3uw__kjm2yTAv8Zg
Just signed up for the Masters. I slept 11 hours last night, and feel MUCH better so I decided to sign up. Weather too iffy for Track. My aim is to keep working at getting my race legs/lungs back into racing shape. The only way to do that is to... Race.
Just signed up, first race this season-super stoked!
I’ll be there as well
sweet! please consider volunteering: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1h68kb_QnO2NSAaAd2gradwBk12Q3uw__kjm2yTAv8Zg/edit
I'm in.
I’ll be at the Masters race tomorrow, but feel like dogshit after our trip to Toronto. All of my workouts this week have gone poorly. No idea what my legs will have in them tomorrow, if anything. 😐
I'll be working all day to keep Powell at the front ready for all the sprints and the win, propelling him to his Roubaix dreams.
As per usual, I'll be onsite between 5-5:15. I do carry some tools, a pump, and a pressure gauge in my vehicle in case anyone needs a last minute adjustment. I usually find parking a block or two from the start finish.
