^half truth
The same source that saw Neil testing his gloves told me Greg had been abducted by a group of doctors who after seeing how he performed in races decided to take him to their Sports Medicine Center in California to study him. The source told me that according to some very serious rumors he had been shared with the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center in Minnesota.

Battenkill was a tough bit 'o fun. Looking forward to trying it for the first time as a 4, hopefully with a few teammates around (I was the only Kissena in my field last year)....topped off by a tasty burger and pint at the brewpub in Albany with Mr. Swygert.

I rode it on Michelin Pro 3 23's, and had no problems in the dry conditions.
I'm a little ambivalent about the race itself and the $80 entry fee.

That being said we have some good 3s that can do well on that course. If william, joe, wojciech, eric. etc. are racing I will come out too. but certainly not going to do it alone.
I'm in. WDC, Eric, Keith, Woj?

I can't imagine I'll be in shape for a 60 mile race in April. Plus $80 (tolls and gas) and travel - just too damn far at that point in the year.

sorry, but until my home life changes and I'll be able to get in longer rides and feel free to do such races, I'll be honing my short race and crit form. My goals are at the end of May and beginnning of June.

I'm contemplating it. Who's in for the 4s?
I'm in.

Eric:

You obviously have to start neglecting your family more. End of discussion. Priorities. Priorities.

Guys, I'm seriously considering doing it as well, although I'm not so sure I really know what I'm getting into here :)
I'm in putting on a chain catcher this time.
highly doubt i will race this year

the first 5 months of 2012 are not going to be very bike-oriented

and i don't pay $80 plus gas/tolls to be pack fodder

i can get that cheaper closer to home
How does it work if I'm a Cat5 to start 2012, but potentially a Cat4 when the race rolls around in April? Which Cat should I be signing up for & how would it work?
Ros,

Generally promoters will try and accommodate switches like that, but I'd recommend racing this one as a 5 if you haven't done it yet. There are plenty of tough races later in the year to contest as a 4.

j
Thanks Jules, I think those are wise words & I think that's what I will do. First time it makes sense to just do it as a 5.

Any other Cat5's joining me from the club?

R
Ros - I'll be doing it as a CAT5 under 35

Nice! Under-35 Cat5 here as well. Glad I won't be alone.

R
Ros,

I think the director will make attempts to fit you in but no guarantees.

Not sure how many races you have under your belt, but the smaller field in the cat 5 race might be nice if you haven't raced with 100 riders before. Battenkill isn't exactly the best place to experience that for the first time.

Michael, I did a pair of races last year, but never anything with this large of a field. The cat 5 race is looking like the most sensible option for me in 2012.

I'm guessing the signup for spots goes really fast at 7pm tonight?
