Nice ride. Will, Vlad, Niall, Christopher, and myself. We rode briskly to Sparkill, where Vlad turned for Piermont and the rest of us went for the route to Rockland. Rode the climbs with the idea that we still wanted to have something left for the flats on 9W.
By the time we got to 9W, the road was open, but a power line pole was totally wrecked and weighing on the cables. The road was clear and we made it past without issue, but I wondered how long the cables would hold.
Kept a nice pace on 9W. Caught ex-Kissena David Stokes, who joined in with our shenanigans.
hey @Mark Taylor i was planning on going out tomorrow but i've got some knee pain and i'd like to rest it and get re-fit, so i think i'm going to take tomorrow off.
After Jules and Jeff left I re-discovered a nice cx friendly loop that doesn't have the roots and drop offs present in the rest of the trails. I will come back - probably on the 24th if anyone wants to join. I'll show you guys the cool trails.
But if you do, bring spare tubes and make sure your tires are inflated enough - 'cause cx pressures = pinch flats on roots and rocks.
While out in the future, I'd like to through on the calendar a ride to Bear Mountain and then come back on the train (Peekskill) on Saturday October 31. Perhaps it will be the end of the fall colors?
I'm going to ride the Stillwell Woods Mountain bike trails on the afternoon of Saturday the 24th on my Cross bike if anyone wants to join. The trails are a lot of fun and will improve your handling skills. Meet up location is at the end of the parking lot here.
I will start at 1:30. Respond here or email me if you are coming so I know to wait for you. Livetoridebikes@gmail.com 516-987-6404.
Bring TWO extra tubes and inflate your tires well. This is a mountain bike course with enough drops and roots to give you a pinch flat if you are running 20 lbs of pressure.
