Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

WEnt to the GWB because I didn't feel I had the legs to ride decently at the L&C.

Adam Yaffe, (James Reeder), and (Marc Bertucco) were there.

A small group, but we did some fun turny downhilling in Tenafly and Cresskill, and rolled nicely on the low road--James even ramped up the pace so we could sprint for Stateline.

Adam turned off in Piermont.  James on the backside of Bradley.  Two left.  Kept going.  Kept removing layers.  First the vest, then the gloves, then the knee warmers.

Glad I didn't race, my HR wasn't responding to hard efforts and I could barely stay above threshold for two minutes.

But, rolling back on 9W, two small groups passed us just before that Market in Palisades.  We decided to get them back.  We passed the first on Stateline, the second on the next hill, and then the first group came back to us just before the scout camp--and promptly stopped.  They had dropped some folks.

We picked up the pace a bit to make sure we could stay away from the groups. Only two guys passed us after Hillside.  I gave them about 30s of leash and then reeled them in and kept going hard.  They were gone.  We cut the jets after turning off of 9W.  That first group passed us just before Strictly.  And stopped again.

I was going down to Union Square for the end of my ride.  And that first group came flying by me again at West 94th.  They were sloppy and attacking each other.  I got away from them again.  When I thought they were gone for good, at W72nd, three of them passed me.  Oy.  I kept them a safe distance ahead of me til I got on the West Side Path.  Their group was down to one.  But he was hammering, taking chances like squeezing between a wobbly runner and a bollard.  When I saw him wave his arm at a guy who was walking in the bike lane, I decided I had enough of tailing his sketchtastic performance, and cut the jets for good.

Anyone up for an early bird special on Saturday? I can't race on Sunday (reg desk but have to skedaddle) so planning to go out and back to similar to last week - Piermont + Bradley/Tweed, 8am GWB.
Down!
I'm in! I'd rather get a long ride in than wake up early and race

Can't make sunday's race unfortunately :'(
What time is early bird ?
8a GWB
I’m planning to hit the GWB at 10am tomorrow if anyone want to join for a late start
I could be interested if I don’t need to get an earlier start. TBD in the morning.
I’ll see you up there, Patrick
sounds good
Any Saturday plans? I’m up for whatever. Also didn’t really mind the 8 am gwb start from last week
I'm down for an early one tomorrow.
I'm in for an early one (caveated with my dog cooperating and going for his walk early)
Tomorrow, 8am @ GWB.  I've got 2.5 hours of tempo work to get done so thinking something steady and fast-ish pace.

Just bring him along!
Have to stay local tomorrow - Looking to do 9a @ Cunningham for a quick 1hr shakeout to test the new bike build before Rasputitsa next weekend. Msg me if you want to join.
I'll be at the GWB by 9 on Saturday.  Need to be home by a bit after 11.

Scene report: last weekend I raced track on Saturday then Sunday I got up late and watched Paris Roubaix then the Liverpool game, then headed out for GWB. It was beautiful out and I was aiming for a 4:15 hour Z2 ride with some sprint intervals. I ran into Mark and Brett at the base of BB on their way back from the Kissena Sunday ride. When I got to GWB I ran into Greg and we rode River Road and then back on 9W. After those California training camp mountain rides the Great Wall and alpine climb feel so short haha. Greg pulled me back on 9W with a great pull and I set PRs for all those segments. Then when I got home to sunset park I ran into one of the guys from Central Park Raccoons. A big day for running into people!
I am racing track today but tomorrow looks beautiful. I am planning on doing River Road to market for coffee then back on 9w. If others are inclined for a ride I’ll be at BB at 8, GWB at 9/9:15. If I don’t hear back from others here I’ll probably watch Amstel gold race first then head out.
Come and join our cat 4/5 takeover tomorrow morning David!
I’m not race ready yet :( gotta get some more weeks of long rides and workouts in.
I know a bunch of folks are in VT but anyone heading north tomorrow? I plan on being at GWB at 9am, probably climb Bradley into Nyack, get a snack and then head down 9w home
If I ride it'll likely be early and just a quick Piermont run and back.
Misty morning at sterling forest with Jim Nelson
testing conditions , lots of rocks and roots ,a massive amount
of effort has gone into building a new trail and it really makes the drive worthwhile

Planning on riding tomorrow Saturday April 27th @ Cunningham with my cross bike.

I expect be on the trails at 9am.

Let me know if you wanna join.

I would like to join a 9W ride Sunday if anyone is going?
The Will Scheider gang is doing a speedy tour of most of the GFNY course on Saturday; they'll probably cut out River Road.  It's leaving the GWB at 9am.
I posted this on slack yest, forgot to put here, too:

For anyone interested, I’m planning a 9W roundtrip to Piermont on Sunday morning, have endurance work to do on the way out & tempo on the way back. Thinking about a later start to 1) take advantage of the warmer weather 2) avoid the minimal risk of rain at 8am.

Probably aim for gwb at 10
