Busy life stuff so tardy on ride reports, but had a nice Memorial Day ride with Pat, Mark, Greg, and ex-KCC Marc B. Notables:

• Chill low roads vibes, it was a perfect spring day to be out riding with buds.
• Heading into Rockleigh nobody seemed to be winding up to contest the state line so I decided to go for it. Unfortunately my terrible sprinting form ejects something from my rear jersey pocket. Last week it was my phone, this week it was my mini-pump. So much thrashing around for so few watts. Le sigh.
• Mark and Greg cut to Nyack earlier during different points before the climbs to chill like civilized people, sipping coffee and pastries at the shop.
• Pat - former L&C series KOM winner - is my favorite wheel to follow up a climb. I've stared cross-eyed at his rear wheel up giant mountains in Vermont and California and of course local climbs like Bradley/Tweed. This weekend he towed me up halfway and then I attacked to try to shake him. He came right back up to me and I followed his wheel some more until I attacked one more time to get him at the line. 
• Pat also decided he had enough of our shenanigans and instead decided to check in on his mom in Piermont.
• Mark was under the weather and started to drop and encouraged us to paceline it back without him.
• Greg, Marc and I started trading pulls. I was rotating behind Greg who putt in monster turns at the front. He hit a red light, but Greg would have won gas station sprint.
• One of the fastest return trips on 9W in recent memory.
• Marc, Greg and I basically decided to sprint Hudson Terrace on the spot. One second we were chatting, the next second, Greg looks over at me like a psychopath and ramps it up from 200 to 1200 watts without blinking. I give him my best crazy eyes and dig in and win this one.

I'm planning to get out for a quick one tomorrow before the prospect event.  Anyone else in?  Thinking river road to Piermont/Nyack.

Should be able to join. Need to pick up numbers for Sundays race from Strictly between 9-11am so will work around that.

8a GWB - I'm a bit rusty with minimal saddle time last 2 weeks, but looking to do an efficient out and back to Nyack with Bradley Tweed thrown in if time permits.

Early bird special with David K (DK or Donkey Kong if he'll indulge me) and Greg who was sweating despite it being 50f/10c. I've been time crunched on weekends so wanted to do an efficient 9w to Nyack ride. We were so quick we threw in Bradley Tweed and ate at the french pastry shop in town in Nyack, which... the ham and cheese croissant was on another level. Lots of groups out there today - a large pack of PAS kitted folks were amassing around Grant's Tomb on my way to the bridge and then they came roaring past us on 9W. 

Forgot my sunglasses and my eyeballs are still feeling it 12 hours later.

Bad timing with the traffic light for state line heading up so we missed that one (though Greg zipped by with a victory salute 10 meters from the line). DK hammered it with us all the way to the hills and we each took them at our own pace.

The sun was out for the first 15 minutes of the ride, promising hope for a nice day and then the clouds came and kept things chilly. I wore light arm sleeves and a long sleeve jersey and a vest. On June 1st. Woof.

DK started to fade heading back, but Greg and I pulled to keep him out of the wind. I learned to sit upright at the front. Gas station sprint, Greg decided to jump on some time trialist wheels to get a lead out. I hesitated, but decided to bridge up. For whatever reason the TT guy sort of let up and Greg ended up giving me a perfect leadout - I basically didn't have to pedal until 50m from the line. I lead the way down the hill on Hudson for the final sprint and I think Greg had enough of my shenanigans and sat up to let me take the win.

I stuffed my valuables into my jersey pocket under my vest. Nothing flew out during my furiously slow sprint.

Hustled back down River Road back down, through Central Park and over the QBB where joggers still haven't recieved the memo that they have a whole side to themselves. To be fair some cyclists are still sticking to the inner lane as well. 

Got home in time to take the kid for swim lessons, *not* in kit. 

I'm camping next weekend so no racing or riding for me. But I hope you all break out into a group sing along to Call Me Maybe.

Sorry about that.  Should have been up front.  She has an ear infection that caused a swelling in an ear lobe.  Not "serious" but urgent enough that we thought it best to address it before Monday.  Pretty much just lancing it and treating with anti-biotics.  She was nervous about seeing a doctor--unlike the folks on this list, she doesn't have the experience of multiple ER visits to know not to worry.  My experiences apparently weren't enough on their own.

I did a short, hilly ride here in Upper Manhattan and called it a morning.  

I intend to be at GWB at 9am sunday

Planning in advance, I'll be at GWB/NJ side this Saturday 6/21.

FYI it is the Summer Solstice (technically on Friday), but basically sun is rising at 5:24a so I'm more than happy to start early and do a longer solstice ride.

How long do you want to go? Figure park races start at 545, so any time after that is easy.

Sat Soltice Jun 21st 7:00 am BB; 8:00 am GWB plan is piermont/nyack and back.

I have family in town so my plans might change, if you don’t see me, don’t wait. will be fun.

Also aiming to be back to brooklyn by 1pm. 7am bb sounds about right. Am considering Bradley tweed + Nyack coffee (or piermont on return). No bells. No whistles.
