Rest day for me lads; sorry to miss out on the fun/carnage

whoa!

rode in the park this morning for the first time in years - saw a ton of people i like and even ran into Adam, who dropped me like a sack of bricks off a fire escape.

really good way to start the morning - my comeback is gather steam!
Nick Malter, a Cat 5, works for NYFD, said the downed rider was Randy.  He didn't get his last name.  His 'Look bike was taken to Engine 240, prospect avenue between greenwood avenue and ocean parkway service road.'  Randy was taken to the hospital with a possible concussion.  I don't have any other details.

I'm glad you got your ride in, David, and that you weren't involved in the crash.

Good info, Bruce.  It happened not 10 seconds after I had rolled into the park, so felt kind of surreal.  I didn't see a helmet laying around but hoping it did it's job and broke apart...it was a guy maybe in his 40s or 50s?  Maybe he had a team kit, but I didn't recognize it.  Not too many guys that ride Look frames...
@David, nice running into you, albeit briefly (you were tearing it up, man!) I saw the aftermath of that crash too--another cyclist who wasn't bandaged was carrying the injured cyclist's (most likely) carbon bike, sans front wheel. The fork of the bike in question was snapped in half. Ouch.
Whoa. That is.... difficult to do. Hope the dude is ok.

anyone out tomorrow am?

i'm looking to get some efforts in.

don't really care what they are . . . I JUST WANNA DANCE!!!
I'll be doing something tomorrow AM. Probably 2lap+hill TTs?
I'll be out there doing whatever drills coach Ragot prescribes.  6am @ GAP
WDC, I'll be out tomorrow. Not sure yet what the plan is but will be at GAP at 6am.
cool beans

i'll see you dudes at GAP at 6am

disclaimer: i may just suck your wheel

This week is a bit different. Its Final Tune Up for Park Racing.

Basically, you've been put through a gradual buildup of different systems to get you racing really well. Now, you're just tapering.

This week and next:

Tuesday - endurance ride - just ride for 1-2 hours. Double Paceline is fine - no hammering.

Wednesday - 3min all out, 3 min rest, 2 min all out, 2 min rest, 1 min all out, 1 min rest, 2 min all out. One lap rest. THEN, do 4 sprints rolling from about 20mph - shift as much as you want, but make that 15seconds the hardest thing you've done. Full recovery (3-5 min in between each sprint).

Thursday - just like Tuesday.

Good luck!

I'll be there a bit earlier I think.  Damn you 8am meeting in midtown!  Damn you to hell!

Good news, that's what we're supposed to do!

Good times today.  Was just finishing my hour when I found Whitey & Craig.  Whitey was moaning about how tired he was.  Think I lost my tiny violin by the band shell.  If anyone sees it holler.

See y'all there tomorrow, assuming it ain't pouring.
Ditto that, 6 AM GAP.

It was me, Tito, Joshua and Jay this morning doing some endurance and pacelining stuff. Lots of tri people around. It rained a little, but was no big deal. Great to get out and meet everyone (welcome to the club Joshua), see all of you real soon!
i woke up, kitted up, walked to the door, saw the pitter patter of rain, unkitted, went back to sleep.

in short: i suck.
Great to meet up this morning fellas and glad the weather held out. It's gonna take me a little bit to get used to the early morning riding routine, but in this recent heat its definitely worth it.
Totally forgot to give a special thanks to Tito for the spare tube this morning that saved me a grueling walk home. I owe you one. Literally.

No prob man!

BTW, I can confirm that although Joshua may be new to the club he is not new to changing flats - dude had that bad boy done in a few minutes.  I only got bitten by about three mosquitoes while waiting.
Nice ride this morning.  I did 2lapTTs @ 20:15 and 21, with the hill thrown in for 22:40ish.  Lots of folks out.
edit: oh, and I finally hit 187 HR on a bike, which I find weirdly reassuring.
6AM tomorrow at GAP anyone? No Kissena kit yet as I just joined up, but I'll be wearing a red jersey.
@josh
Morning training schedule starts on Tuesday morning at 6:00 AM
@Joshua I will maybe join you if easy spinning, but otherwise my legs are pretty toasted after this weekend.
Ah, got it @Thierry. Still figuring things out, but weird work schedule for me his week. Not sure what I can make it to and trying to get a ride in when I can.
@David easy spinning is fine by me. Mostly attempting to acclimate to this early morning riding schedule, so for me just forcing myself out on the bike is the goal. Hope to see you out there.
