6:00 AM at GAP anyone??
Bump

Wednesday morning 6AM CX skills practice, in Prospect Park. Meet at GAP. I will bring barriers and cones. Bring your bad self and a CX bike.
Once I get my cx bike, I plan on joining you, Dan. I don't think it will be ready before wed morning, though.
I'm in for tomorrow.

Dan if you want to do Fri am I'm in for that.

@josephmueller I could do Friday too. Anybody else have some interest in doing a CX practice on Friday AM at 6?

Adam, Eloy & I had a great morning practice session getting Adam ready for his first ever cross race on Saturday. We practiced hotlaps, turning, dismounts, barriers, remounts and starts/holeshots. We also covered the key areas of prep for CX (tire pressure, pre-riding the course and beer selection).

On Friday I am happy to continue those discussions, and also provide some heckling practice since this is the first CX race of the year, and folks may be rusty at their heckling.
@Dan_Reiners Sounds good for Fri. I looked for you guys this am but couldn't see you.

J
We jump through a space time continuum and end up near the parking lot for the new skating rinks.
I should be there tomorrow morning for some hot laps. Worst case I'll meet
you in the lot if I'm running late.

Joe, Adam & I had a CX practice this morning which was awesome. Including Adam apparently using his rear derailleur to decapitate a squirrel, and the spirit of said squirrel infiltrating his brakes to bring unholy sounds from another dimension into this one every time he applied his front brake.

Advice was shared that "you don't need a front brake in CX anyway" so we all should be ok.

Needless to say, a CX bike bathed in sacrificial blood is ready for a season of totally rocking.
I swapped in new break pads this morning and am crossing my fingers that it
got rid of that sound. However, it also meant I had to reconfigure the
breaks a bit. So I may have ditched the sound, but also the brake entirely.

Dan, you know what the best CX practice is? Racing. (You too JP) When are you bringing your bad-self back into the fold?
Squealing CX brakes usually means that the pads need to be toed in and aligned.

Marc,

WHA?

I know you were lost in the wilds of the great state of Vermont, and dithering like Hamlet "To tape, or not to tape- that is the question:| Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer | The slings and arrows of | outrageous rollings | Or to stick rims against a sea of Mastik, | And by opposing end them. To die- to sleep-
| No more; and by a sleep to say we race | The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks | That flesh adhere to..."

Meanwhile I have been racing CX, at Forest Park & Blunt Park. You won't see me in your "First CX race of the season" (two weeks after some of us already toed a line and turned a jumped barriers like we meant it), because I crashed at Blunt Park and did a number on my right ribs and currently cannot go hard unless I want to pass out from the pain.

Enjoy your wet and wild Nittany, I am hoping to be fit for racing--or at least able to do 45 minutes of hard-ish effort--for GRANOGUE on 9/14, so Marc, by then I hope you've got all the Mastik out of you beard, and you can show me whether you know how to heckle like you mean it.

This wasn't a squeal that came from natural causes, but the unholy howls of a tormented squirrel soul encased in a pair of TRPs and yearning to leave this mortal coil.

Doh! Dan...SORRY total brain-fart on that one. I gotta make sure that Hotlist looks at those results before he gets to writing again.
Man that squirrel situation puts my raccoon episode in contrast.

I saw another one this week in nearly the same spot.  WILL THEY NEVER LEARN?
I'll be out at 6am at GAP and I don't want to be alone...
.....and then I was all alone:(

You're never alone...you're on Kissena.
Sorry Thierry, the theme of this year for me is sleeping through multiple alarms.
Mondays are run days for me, and I thought about you out on the road doing laps.  Knowing you were out there training is what got me out of bed this morning.

I heard that one many times before...:)
LOL, I believe I still owe you coffee and pastries from earlier this year.  After a long weekend ride?
I should be out Tuesday for some semi-hard laps (still testing what the ribs can take).

Wednesday as well for CX practice. We will practice: starts, holeshots, barriers, turning and all sorts of CX shenanigans.
I'm in for some Wednesday cross practice

No I owe you one, I'm serious.
Dale, Eric and I rode laps at a solid pace.  It was an arm warmer or long sleeve jersey kind of day, and windy, though not as cool as I thought it was going to be.  I think it's the pitch black of the morning that makes me think it's going to be colder.  It'll be here soon enough.

Eric turned out of the park as we were joined by Erika with her fantastic, orange socks.

Not a whole lot of riders in the park this early morning, though still plenty of joggers, and the leaves are starting to fall off the trees and karate chop me in the face.

This city is beautiful in the fall, except when the wind picks the trash up from the ground and tries to make it kiss me on the mouth.

And I saw Adam riding laps just before turning out of the park - nice to see you.

Too bad Thierry didn't join us this morning. . .
