Prospect Park Weekday Morning Training

Ran into a bunch of Kissenas today while doing TTs. Nice seeing all ya'll.

Tomorrow, thinking "The Worst" - center drive, all out from start to finish.  I think coach Ragot used to make us do 8 of them.
I have tried this season to prescribe what is best for the group. The hard / easier sessions should do that and allow you to work on I tervals.

That being said, if you feel a particular weakness needs to addresses like your 30s or 1m power and your ability to recover from those efforts quickly, thank doing 30s or 1m efforts with short recovery (equal to the effort or less) will help you train that.

If maximal power at a time limit is desired, thank you take full recovery between intervals.

@Eric

Good advice, thanks... one question - how does Full Recovery differ from the Short Recovery that you mention is equal to effort or less?
Full recovery is just that. You are not toured and completely ready to go. Say 5 minutes for short efforts, up to 10 for 20min efforts.
Full recovery=Taking shoes off and taking a nap.

That is track recovery. For the road, we keep riding until we don't want to crawl back into the womb.

Heading to Ride Brooklyn this morning to buy my daughter a bike...you may see me doing slow laps with her in the park around 11:00 am

I remember reading a about pro's training in Colorado (Talansky maybe?) doing 30 minute intervals and then literally sitting their arses down in the parking lot for the recovery in between.
That was a Tom Danielson thing...Tommy D started doping waaaay back when he was mtb racer in college under Rick Crawford...then he took his blood circus to team Saturn where the Nathan O'Neil's and Chris Horner's were happy to show him the tricks of the centrifuge.  By the time he got to Discovery channel, Lance & Johan had an apt pupil.
GAP 6 am.  Looks like it's going to be on the cool side tomorrow morning.
See you there.
A good ride this morning, with Eric, Jim, Eloy, Jeff C.  And we said good morning to Avi who joined the big NYCC group ride of about 10+ riders or so.  BTC was out this morning, though it seemed there were fewer riders than usual and they weren't doing any group training.  The NY Triathlon is this coming Sunday so they're tapering.  Keep this in mind when you go out on Sunday morning.  They're riding on the highway but they need to cross riverside drive and there will be a lot of em.

We spun in circles, chatting, and towards the end of the hour, Danny from Axis joined us and as others turned out of the park, we got into a single paceline and ramped it up for a lap.

I wore arm warmers this morning, and I saw long sleeve jerseys.  65 coming up from 40 is glorious.  Going down from 85 is simply shocking.
Good to see you guys this morning.

Good to see you guys.  You might be interested to know, NYCC split into two groups of 6 to make it more manageable through the narrow straits where the road work is in progress on the east side.  (I witnessed a crash there last week when a casual rider tried to cut across a paceline just ahead of the road work on Friday).

And because they felt park was a little crowded between 6 and 7 am, made a decision to keep paceline speed slower, low 20's, and no 25 mph laps.

When that road is finally finished, it's going to be super sweet to ride on.
It's already got this long stretch of brand new black asphalt that's grippy but feels like you're moving over a solid sheet of polished glass and the steady whir from deep carbon rims around me sings to me like Greek Sirens lulling me to sleep.

Of course, when that finally happens, I'll be riding on bent rims and blown tires caused by the ever-widening potholes on the other side of the park.

As flies to wanton boys are we to the gods...
Rotating paceline this morning with Jeff, Jim, Thierry, Eric.  It wasn't terribly crowded this morning, but riders and runners seemed to be all over the road, along with construction trucks throwing anchor and park vehicles parking, so that at times, our paceline, from above, would have looked like a synchronized swimming routine.  I think we did well with the Back Layout while sculling.
(Yes, a lot of research goes into these reports)

We were joined by Eloy (good morning, sir!), we said hello to Adam, and Konrad of course shot past us doing some good looking intervals.  Nicely done.

Brooklyn is not just a state of mind.

While I'd be impressed with the extra miles you rode for a 6am GAP meet, come join us in Brooklyn, Gwynna.  It's a nice borough, and we have coffee.

The potholes at the 3rd St entrance have been filled in, and more than likely thanks go to the KCC tweet to 311.  We will have to ride over them a few thousand times to pound the new asphalt down.  If anyone's feeling fat lately, please ride over this part of the road.
Musical Teammates.  6AM GAP, with Jeff A., Avi, Dale.
We rolled out and Jeff took off for some hard efforts.
I talked with Avi about CX bikes.
We were joined by Erika who was leap frogging us with her intervals.
Avi took off and I talked with Dale about CX bikes.
Erika, having finished her intervals, rode with Dale and me.
Erika was on her CX bike.
She turned out of the park and we caught up with Craig Z who joined us.
I talked with Craig about CX bikes.
After a couple of laps I rolled home with 20 miles under my wheels.
Yeah, so, I'm thinking about cross this year.

Nice to see you all, and, well, thanks for talking CX.

You had me at 'beer'.
Not quite morning, but not exactly evening either; ran into Eric R, Handsome Joe and Clint Eastwood Keith.  I would have been less surprised if I'd seen Jimmy Hoffa and the Milli Vanilli twins...
Park laps this morning.  Tuesday I went to Floyd, Wednesday was Yoga, so laps on Thursday.  It's a pretty good life.  Though it puts me to bed by 9 when Friday finally shows up.

Jim, Eric and I rolled out of GAP just after 6 and we were joined by Eloy, while Jeff C lapped us in TT mode.  There was a big NYCC group, and I spied Avi cranking with the Prospect Peloton double-paceline.

I set a PR on the number of cups of coffee I had before riding to work.
Anyone riding tomorrow morning?
I will be.
I also
Planning on it. Either center drive intervals or sprint points around the loop.

I was actually blown away by how many Kissenas were in the park at 12:30 on a weekday. But it made for a very enjoyable ride.
Oof not going to make it.enjoy the fine morn, all.
I can't make it either , my wife is off to Rikers this morning

Hopefully in a work capacity.

I rolled around solo for awhile until I rolled up to Erika with her bright orange socks. She and I rode together for 1.5 laps when I said my goodbyes.

This morning was really nice, a little chilly. I wore arm warmers and was fine.
