Prospect Park Weekday Morning Training

I'm in for pace line if I'm awake.
Jk. Going to sleep in.
Good paceline practice this morning, with Jim, Craig and Eloy.  And Avi was out riding with NYCC.  The rain finally caught up with me and I got a flat just before we started, but thanks to Craig's frame pump, I was back in business in no time.  I've got to get me one of those.

We narrowly avoided a group of BTC runners.  They had just left their bikes at the 15th St entrance and began a spirited sprint right across the road like a herd of leaping gazelles.  Two made it across and the rest diverted back to their side until we passed.

It's definitely cooler out and slightly less humid, but I still dropped about 5 pounds of beer weight on our laps.

Nice riding with you guys this morning.

Can't believe i slept through 2 alarms.  Sorry guys, really wanted to work on leadout drills.
i had a late night last night, fell asleep on the couch, phone in hand. doh
Let's try to get this GAP meetup thing going again.  I think it will help motivate everybody for a better second half of the season.  I keep going out there at 6 and meeting no one at GAP then seeing 8 different people around the loop.  Even if your doing your own thing, why not get up 5 minutes earlier and stop by GAP and say hello.  It's a lot easier to get up at 5:30 if you know you aren't going to have to ride around by yourself. Plus doing intervals with someone else usually makes you go just a little bit harder and improves your training.  So who's up for GAP tomorrow at 6?!
If the weather isn't shit I'll try to be out there.  Might have to set up 4 alarms and drink a gallon of water to wake up on time though.
I agree wholeheartedly, @Dale, on all counts. I'll be there tomorrow!
The 6 am start is too tough for me -- takes a brutal toll when the inevitable 6:30 pm meeting pops up. The best I've been able to manage is ~6:45/6:50.
Dale, this qualifies as shit weather. Are you still headed out?
Nope. Looks like it will be Thursday before it's dry again.

C'mon Jules, let's keep this forum PG-13:)

An incredibly humid morning.  I used my blinkies going to the park because it was so overcast and dark.  And I went out with a fender, just in case, and chatted a bit with Allen, from NYCC, who joined us because none of his guys showed up this morning.  I was met by Joe, Eloy, and Kayt.

We all had some specific, awesomely hard workouts to do, so at the bottom of the hill, I took off to start my Pyramid intervals and, well, walked like an Egyptian.  See what I did there?

Joe eventually crushed me with his 'I must break you' routine of hard riding, which is always unnerving because he's such a nice guy.

BTC was out in force and doing their ITT thing and the barricades by the construction have been moved again so they now divide the road right in half.  Riding along there after 7am when the cars come through will be an issue - I left the park just after 7 while finishing a lap with Eloy so didn't get to see how it all works, but things will get tight in that small stretch.

I spied Jay out for a ride this morning also - we must have just missed you.

Nice to see everyone on this wet morning.
I always know what qualifies as a "rain day" by what bike @Bruce is riding :)

It was tropical out there, but the promise of seeing teammates was well worth forfeiting those extra 20 minutes of sleep I've been getting.
I set my alarm today for 5:30 but fell asleep reading stories at 8am and awoke TWELVE HOURS LATER.  Oh well, I guess I'm still growing.

Just got back from a humid sweat-fest; couldn't tell if it was raining yet or just the sweat pouring off me...

You mean "handsome" I think
I was out there. Slow rolled through GAP a few minutes after 6. Didn't see anybody come around.
That construction area before old start/finish is tight! Especially with joggers coming the wrong way on your left and traffic on the right.
I think this is the right thread anyone riding tomorrow am in pp early?
@Myles - I'll be out tomorrow morning. I expect to get to GAP by about 6:15.
Damn thats reaaal early. How long you there for?

Shit. First Eloy, then Myles? This is going to be an interesting cross season, me thinks...
I'll leave the park around 7:15.
Tomorrow: GAP at 6am. super sharp. we'll ride until 7:30 or so. Which will give us about 25 miles. Cheers.

Good times with a big crew today.  After a 20 minute paceline Dale & I broke off to do some intervals.  Dale is apparently freshly back from a stint on the Conan wheel, and he did this to me while I wheezed like a gut-shot panda...

Sorry I missed the laps today.  Dad's in town so I've had a couple of late nights.
Good times. @avizukerman‌ did great picking up rotating paceline skills.  We should do more of these on a regular basis in the mornings, especially for new-to-pack-riding-and-racing members (see Marc's mentor ride this Saturday for the weekend version).

Jim obliged me and we worked on hill leadout drills.  I must have crested that hill a thousand times, but it's helpful to work it out in the context of sprinting for KOM points.
all I can say is: ouch.
Bump. Tomorrow is 2x 2 lap + hill TT day.
