Pat, I had a Fuji track pro and it was great. Wicked stiff. I raced it a few times at Kissena. My gimpy knees forced its sale. I would bet u could find one on ebay. Or maybe u could swing by DUMBO and proposition a hipster for one...

Fuji has been making aluminum track frames in the same design for probably a decade. My feeling is troll craigslist for deals. I think you could get a whole bike for $400. Any Fuji Track Pro in aluminum is basically the same frame, just different paint different years.

There is a guy who "locks" up a Fuji Track Pro, in front of Brazen Head on Atlantic between Smith and Court a few times a week. It is usually so poorly locked that a stern look or a the clever use of a bobby pin could probably "free" the bike. Though you'd definitely have to switch the flat pedals for something usable, the riser bars would have to be swapped for a nice pair of drops, and the rear tire would need to be replaced because the guy's been doing mad skidz, but the bike could be yours for a steal.

if you're down for that, come to Williamsburg. There are a slew of abandoned "fixies". Normally, I wouldn't encourage stealing a bike, but many of these have no wheels, the stem/handlebars have been ripped, the saddle is missing, and they've betting cluttering up the sidewalk around my place for months. Granted, these aren't fancy race frames, but maybe you just need a commuter? Or is this for actually racing track?

On that note, don't put fancy crap on your otherwise minimal commuter. Someone went down Bedford Ave a few weeks ago with snips and an allen key and stole at least 4 "cockpits". Oh, how they'll miss their cinelli and thomson components... BTW, is there anyway to secure your stem/handlebars? Massive amounts of duct tape?

"I use pinhead. I started out w/ just the locking quick release skewer for the wheel. I then, using the serial # of my key, ordered the locking headset bolt. They do sell combo packs that come with the wheel skewers, headset and seatpost bolts, all matched to the same key. I don't use a locking seatpost bolt, but just loop a bike chain wrapped in an inner tube through the seat rails and where the rear stays connect w/ the seat tube."

Does anyone out there have a dry sack to lend? Doing a quick canoe camping trip next week and would like to ensure that a few things stay dry. Let me know. I could also use a cooler but that should be easy to find.

If you are renting a canoe for the trip from an outfitter they ususally have dry bags for rent as well. The last time I did a camping trip on the Delaware the outfitter had dry bags to rent for $5.

at the start of the summer, i picked up a beautiful 56 cm cannondale cx9 cross frame to build up for this season. i built it up and road it, only to realize that cannondale cx frames run pretty big, mostly due to the fact that the bottom bracket is quite high. it is a super frame (barbeque color) but rides like a 58, which I do not. if you ride a 58 cm road bike, and are looking for a great cx frame, i would love to find it a home. I paid $750 for it, and would take $600. as a bonus, it is a usa made frame, and has a standard BB.......no bearing seize - yea!! if interested, contact me off list. thanx - david

I am not devious enough to steal one, nor am I hip enough to be a "purple-shirt & skinny-jeans-wearing fool." As a matter of fact I think I am the antithesis of a hipster (is that a good thing? I am not sure), which leaves me with Craig's List and eBay.

Most complete aluminum bikes with a name (Felt TK2, Fuji Track Pro (pre or post the 2009 frame change)) seem to be going for around $800. I blame it on Stephane bidding against me. (You can always blame a Frenchman. Try it, its fun for the whole family.)

Mattie pointed out that BikesDirect has a Motobecane which is really a pre-2009 Fuji Track Pro for $800.

I was hoping to spend less, so if someone knows of a deal, let me know (my research suggests I probably I need a bike larger than 54cm) . In the meantime, I'll keep looking.

If you think you could fit into a Rudy Project small/medium (I couldn't really, I mean, I could-ish and did-ish), I'll give you (or anyone else on the club) the helmet that I used for races only (see the part about it be too small for my giant melon) last season. It's white, and I have the original padding web that I took out (again, see previous reference to giant melon), so that's not nasty sweaty or anything.

I could probably bring it to the club championships in a few weeks (not 100% sure I'll be able to do this race yet). Or you could come to Washington Heights Manhattan for pick-up.

I can pretty much guarantee that if there is one guy in the club who absolutely needs a size large helmet, it's Christian. You OK, Kaiser?

Power meter needs a computer to capture the data. I don't know of any computers that don't also capture HR data.
