FYI ,i have these on an old steel frame, that i picked up on ebay pretty cheap, they work okeloy said:It means that the "arm" of the brakes is much longer, is an old school way to allow for more tire clearance.
In the frame/fork it means that the place where you attach the brake is a bit further from the wheel...
