I'm in.  Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

registered! lets boogie woogie!
I definitely have podium aspirations for this - last year I blew the final sprint and got 10th; this year I plan to crush.

I'll post more when I'm not at work.
It's quite a squad we have, should be able to do some damage. I think we need a plan going into this.
I'm thinking about it. Anyone have room in their car/hearts for a Fategory 3 racer?
@vlad You know I love a long car ride with you, but this time I'm traveling with family as we're staying with friends nearby the night before. It just won't be the same.
just fyi:  there is a metro north train station about 1 mile away from the start - pawling

if you buy a $5 bike pass (good for life) you can take your whiiip
im def doin that then. thats i got to hunter.
So I'm trying to figure out how to get to the race - I had originally thought I would take Metro-North up and stay with my folks Saturday, but now it turns out I won't have use of a car.  MN Sunday morning doesn't work - there isn't a train to Pawling until 7.48, which gets to Pawling 9.38 - too late for Cat 4 race.

Anybody else thinking of driving up?
i'm driving and have room for 1 - possibly 2 more in my car.
could I get a ride David?
If you have room for a second, Dave...
^Cancel that - I worked things out with my folks.  Thanks.
Definitely Aly.  I've got room for 1 more - first come -  first dibs.
I'll take a ride up.
You're def welcome to go with us, Vlad - but it looks like the Cat 3 race starts 3 hours after the Cat 4?
I don't mind hanging out and sopping up some of the Cat 4 action. I'll take the train back or bum a ride from someone there so that you guys won't have to wait.

If someone else in my race decides to drive up, then I'll probably jump in with them. I'll let you know.

Also, if a Cat 4 racer needs a ride, I'll gladly forfeit my spot and hop on the LIRR (which is 2 blocks away from my apt).
Cool - well the ride is yours then!   Aly and I could always stick around for a couple of hours after we finish and watch the other races, maybe even get a few more miles in.   I'm a free man that weekend - family free - so I'm in no rush.
Don't forget they've got the lake. It feels really, really, really great to dive in after racing.

Vlad - isn't Pawling in Putnam county ? How are you taking the LIRR from Brooklyn to there ?
@JoshuaC, I don't know anything about the LIRR... so that should explain it.
Metro North.
@dstearns...swimming after the race does sound pretty wonderful. i'm down for whatever.
Aly.  I am not saying that your last post is gay, just that you have to factor in that Dave is married and has a family.  He might still say 'yes' though.
When you are all done racing. Go back to route 22 and head north for about another 10minutes to Big W roadside BBQ. Superb Texas style BBQ.
@Adam, my brother.....don't forget that on most saturdays about 20 of us hang out in a Swedish cafe in the heart of park slope, wearing tight spandex, eating pastries and talking about all the fun we had in the park that morning. i think we can probably handle a post-race swim

@alyoshas...swimming in the lake after the race followed by a trip to @eragot's texas BBQ joint.  done and done.  who's in?  come on Adam, you sexy beast....

I think you have to buy a one-day rec license to swim.  We got kicked out after 5 minutes last year.  Wandered through the brush on another side of the lake and saw signs about poison and contamination.  I now have extra toes.

i seem to recall something about a spider-filled diving dock last year as well?

(you want a toe?  i can get you a toe, believe me.  there are ways, dude. you don't want to know about it, believe me.)
Spiders?  I'm definitely out.

swimming last year was the BOMB

i paid 10 dollars for about 4 of us . . . the kid at the booth was "cool"

spiders were definitely not UCI-approved
Last year I followed Jeff into the woods looking for a "secret" entry to the swimming area.

I haven't been the same since.
